Since 2014, PLDT Enterprise has spearheaded the annual Philippine Digital Convention (PH Digicon) as a platform for global industry leaders and technology pioneers to drive technological advancements. PH Digicon 2023, themed “VISION: Reimagine Tomorrow’s Enterprise,” aimed to empower future tech leaders, inspire innovative thinking, and explore cutting-edge technologies, expanding its audience to include academia, tech organizations, government representatives, and start-ups, besides its usual roster of C-level executives.
GENESIS
In the aftermath of COVID-19, businesses are transitioning to a new normal. The Philippine digital economy is on the rise, with significant initiatives to promote IT growth, especially for MSMEs, which make up 99.56% of the economy but have marginally adopted digital transformation. As the country's largest integrated telco, PLDT invests significantly in its digitalization journey, addressing areas identified for growth in the IMD Digital Competitiveness Ranking report.
GOALS
- Business – Attract at least 7,000 business partners and position as a digitalization catalyst
- Marketing – Reinforce PLDT Enterprise as a digital thought leader, disseminate information to attract target audiences
- Communication – Boost sign up interest and establish the event as a must-attend
DEVELOPMENT
Preparations began in July with PR campaigns to raise awareness and drive registrations, highlighting conference details, speakers, topics, and events. While previous PH Digicons targeted C-level executives and global tech experts, PH Digicon 2023 extended invitations to academia, tech organizations, government representatives, and startups, to cover the full ecosystem of business success.
Held on October 12-13, 2023, at the Marriot Grand Ballroom, PH Digicon 2023 marked a return to in-person meetings. Key activities included plenary sessions and a Tech Leadership Forum on Data Centers, Cloud, AI and IoT, and Smart Cities. The new Start-Up Innovation Challenge featured a hackathon where startups addressed real-life challenges using current technologies. Digicon City offered zones like SME Zone, Digi Fest, and the immersive DigiGrounds.
Simon Sinek, a visionary thinker, was invited as a guest speaker, aligning with the theme of envisioning a future that does not yet exist. For the very first time, the MVP Group came together, as well as entrepreneur-centric organizations like QBO, IdeaSpace, and Go Negosyo participated, to further push the agenda of empowering businesses of all sizes. High-echelon tech companies were also engaged to support the Philippines' digital transformation.
RESULTS
PH Digicon 2023 was record-breaking, with 7,393 physical attendees, an 81% increase from 2022. Participants hailed from various sectors: Retail/Business Services (30%), Telecom/Carriers/System Integrators (26%), BPO/IT (21%), Government (8%), Banking/Finance (7%), FMCG/Logistics/Healthcare (4%), Education (3%), and Agriculture (1%).
Top companies like Amdocs, Cisco, Huawei, Samsung, ZTE Corp., Google Cloud, and Fortinet joined.
Positive feedback saw 99% recommending the event and 93% planning to return. Keynote sessions scored 86.67% satisfaction.
PH Digicon 2023 gained 75 media pickups worth PHP 27,749,131.63 and 405 mentions, surpassing all previous editions and tech events within the same period in attendance and engagement, solidifying its industry influence and marketing excellence.
