Ortigas Land Corporation is committed to providing conscious spaces where people of all ages can partake in various lifestyle activities to boost their overall well-being. To further underline this, it hosted the first-ever Run Ortigas 2022 at Ortigas East in Pasig City on November 20, 2022, which was a fun run that aimed to promote a healthy and active lifestyle among casual and experienced runners, as well as dog owners. It also wanted to highlight the Ortigas East community as a sports tourism hub within the Ortigas Land estate.
Run Ortigas 2022 was conceptualized by Ortigas Land Corporation in partnership with Run Rio, an organization founded by renowned runner and marathoner Rio De La Cruz that hosts small and large-scale athletic events in the Philippines. The event was open for all interested runners, from families and pet owners to professional athletes. They were given the chance to choose among three categories with a variety of distances: 16K, 10K, 5K, and a 1K Dog Run.
Ortigas East is a 16-hectare master-planned estate of Ortigas Land, which is the home of the well-loved commercial spot and pet haven Tiendesitas. It was chosen as the venue for its open roads and scenic city sights, which registered runners could experience during Run Ortigas.
Around the same time, Ortigas East was also hosting the annual Christmas Street Light Musical Tunnel. This provided the participants, who arrived at the starting line as early as 4:30 am, with a backdrop of colorful lights and festive Christmas jingles for the first half of their run.
Ortigas Land welcomed a total of over 1,500 Run Ortigas participants who ran in the 16K, 10K, 5K, and 1K Dog Run categories. Two first-place finishers for each category were awarded with medals. People who finished first in the Dog Run with their pets also took home goodie bags.
Run Ortigas was covered extensively by leading media publications, such as Philippine Star and Philippine Daily Inquirer, and sports blogs with article features and social media posts from influencers about the event. Overall, it garnered a total media value of over P6 million.
Run Ortigas has cemented Ortigas East as a location fit for sporting activities, such as fun runs and other similar events that promote the importance of balance and wellness. With this, Ortigas Land wants to continue building avenues for exercise and healthy living that will benefit people’s physical and mental health.
