    Ooredoo Group is an international communications company operating across 10 countries in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia. It delivers upgraded digital experiences through a broad range of content and services via its advanced, data-centric mobile and fixed networks. Ooredoo generated revenues of QAR 23 billion as of 31 December 2022. Its shares are listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange and the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.

    In 2018, Ooredoo pioneered commercial 5G launch in its home market Qatar. Today, it leads commercial 5G adoption and use-cases, providing 5G services in Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Indonesia and the Maldives. As of 2022, it has a 158-million strong customer base and employs over 12,000 employees across the world.

    Ooredoo has been ranked a top 50 Global Telecom Brand in 2022 (for the 6th year in a row) according to Brand Finance, with brand value increasing 6% on its value in 2021.

    Asset optimization strategy

    • Successful sale and leaseback agreement with Edge Point Indonesia for over 4,200 telecommunications towers valued at US$750million– among the largest of similar deals in Asia  
    • Adopted a proactive portfolio strategy to drive additional value across markets – partnered with third party developers across multiple operations to bring the latest for customers
    • Drove shareholder value through in-market consolidation – merger of two telco giants in Indonesia – Indosat Ooredoo and CK Hutchison, creating a stronger operator for Indonesia
    • Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison: The integration between Indosat Ooredoo and Hutchison in Indonesia is ahead of schedule. Given pace of progress, we expect to be on the higher end (closer to USD400m) in closer to 3 years.
    • Tower carve-out: Group exploring new opportunities to unlock capital and create more value to shareholders.
    • Myanmar: Sale of our operations in Myanmar at an Enterprise Value of USD 576 million. The transaction is an important milestone in line with strategic decisions to focus on markets where Ooredoo is leading.

    Digital transformation

    • 5G networks in Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, the Maldives and Indonesia, with multiple winning awards.
    • Network: Fibre networks now cover over 99% of Qatar. Ooredoo Kuwait named ‘Fastest 5G Network’ for 2021 at MWC.
    • 5G expansion: Ooredoo Qatar upgrading more than 90% of its outdoor macro sites with 5G covering over 93% of the population.
    • Entirely digital mobile experience via Ooredoo apps (app use growth over 60% across operations), such as the Ooredoo Money app (safe and convenient way to transfer money from the mobile).

    Record-breaking financial results:

    • Delivered strongest set of results since 2013, with proforma revenues reaching QAR 23 billion.
    • Stood out among peers for its strong cash flow growth driven by Group-wide efforts to achieve CAPEX efficiencies and prudent management of 5G investment cycle – leading to above average returns in 2022, when compared to both regional peers and the top 60 global telcos.

    Excellence in Customer Experience:

    • Delivered strong performance as measured by CSAT and NPS. #1 position in four markets and a strong #2 in another four.
    • Deployed a consistent customer feedback and measurement system across operations and anchored customer experience as a compensation driver for employees.
    • All operations initiated dedicated programmes to maintain and improve performance for customers.
    • Introduced ‘Customer Days,’ where employees visit call centres, kiosks and shops to learn about areas for improvement.
    • Provided a consistent and leading data network experience, evidenced by the network quality provided during FIFA WC Qatar 2022 (over 3.4 million spectators across eight stadiums during the tournament, over 801TB of mobile data, recognised by Speedtest for the fastest network speeds globally.

    Investing in People

    • Becoming an employer: evolution to a more agile, team-focused corporate culture and won ‘Best Place to Work’ awards in Algeria and other markets.
    • Provided an average of 25 hours/year of online learning for each employee in 2022.
    • Piloted coaching and mentoring programmes in 2022 (over 250 initial participants).
    • Signed global partnerships with development leaders such as LinkedIn Learning, getAbstract, Coach Hub, MentorcliQ and others.
