    Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, a renowned developer and operator of lifestyle destinations in the Philippines, has taken a proactive stance in addressing the pressing issue of pollution stemming from carbon emissions. Recognizing the detrimental impact of overcrowded streets and traffic on air quality, the company embarked on an innovative project to establish the country’s very first mall-based electric vehicle charging stations across its extensive network of townships and properties. 

    The promotion of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls' EV charging stations has yielded remarkable results and continues to generate awareness and information across properties. These charging stations have successfully served a substantial number of electric vehicles, including 293 cars and 832 e-scooters and e-bikes, totaling 1,135 vehicles. This has resulted in an estimated electricity consumption of 20,000 kilowatt hours, saving approximately 593 gallons or 2,233 liters of fuel. In monetary terms, this equates to savings of about $3,000.

    By providing EV charging stations in their malls, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls aimed to address the lack of accessible charging infrastructure, which was a significant barrier to the widespread adoption of electric vehicles. This initiative not only aligned with their commitment to environmental responsibility but also positioned Megaworld as the pioneer in the movement towards electric transportation. 

    Megaworld Lifestyle Malls partnered with private sector organizations such as PGA Cars, eVAP, BYD Philippines, STAR, PESIN, and UNIDO to establish EV charging stations. The initiative dubbed "Park, Charge, Drive," was launched in Uptown Mall's Basement Parking in July 2022, followed by installations at Uptown Parade and Eastwood City in August and October, respectively. The charging facilities are free of charge and available for e-vehicles on a first-come, first-served basis. E-bikes and e-scooters can use the CHRG Post 5-JP with SAE J1772 charging connectors, while e-cars can utilize the wall-mounted BYD 7kW AC Charger with GB/T and CCS2 adaptors. The charging stations feature Pulsar Plus 22kW chargers, making them among the most powerful in their class. Megaworld Lifestyle Malls organized launch events attended by key government officials and executives, inviting major media channels and online tech publications for maximum visibility and publicity.

    Additionally, Megaworld was committed to generating media awareness for its EV charging stations to spread the message of sustainability to every Filipino. 

    The company partnered with government entities to ensure regulatory compliance and align the EV charging program with the Philippines' sustainability goals. This collaboration leveraged government expertise, resources, and influence to promote and regulate EV charging infrastructure, thus enhancing the project’s credibility, funding opportunities, and fostering a collaborative approach to sustainable transportation.

    The impact of this initiative extends beyond individual vehicle owners. By providing a reliable and accessible charging infrastructure, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls actively contributes to the government's efforts in improving air quality and reducing pollution in Manila, the capital city of the Philippines. These EV charging stations have become integral to the country's transportation sector, fostering an ecosystem of sustainable mobility solutions that promote environmental stewardship.

    The launch of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls' EV charging stations garnered significant media attention, with an estimated media value earnings of about $50,000. Major news channels, print publications, online platforms, and industry-specific outlets covered the event extensively. This high media value reflects the interest in sustainable transportation and the adoption of electric vehicles. The widespread coverage played a crucial role in raising awareness about the initiative, reaching a broad audience and amplifying the message of sustainability and innovation across the media landscape.
