Ed McLaughlin, President and Chief Technology Officer uses this mindset to transform the business to lead through technology. The Technology organization at Mastercard is responsible for a broad set of capabilities including security, markets & localization, technology risk, architecture and more. Ed focuses on rapid and strategic modernization efforts to strengthen current customer services, and anticipates and mitigates future challenges while diversifying Mastercard’s offerings.

    Trust and security are at the core of Mastercard as a network. While strengthening current customer experiences, Ed is spearheading Mastercard’s efforts to proactively mitigate the future risks related to quantum computing that could impact the security of the billions of digital transactions we process daily around the globe. In anticipation of such developing security threats, Ed and the Technology team are testing solutions in Quantum Key Distribution to securely distribute encryption keys in different locations at the same time.

    Ed has also led Mastercard's upgrade of its global payment network to embrace a blend of cloud and edge computing technologies. The new modernized network, when available, will allow new customer experiences, drive revenue growth through faster product delivery and integration and improve operational efficiency by onboarding new customers quicker.
