As the Martin County Office of Tourism & Marketing, we champion responsible tourism and environmental stewardship year-round through our in-house ecotourism program, Explore Natural Martin.
We developed the award-winning program from the ground up, partnering with Leave No Trace to ensure best practices. The program includes a portfolio of engaging guided eco-tours, educating participants on Leave No Trace principles while exploring our diverse natural areas. Free and open to visitors and locals alike, it also promotes accessibility and equity.
To promote this new initiative, we created a short-form tourism video showcasing our beautiful outdoor areas and explaining our ecotourism program's mission while attracting new visitors and engaging the community. Despite a limited budget, our team handled scripting, location scouting, and filming with a local videographer to bring our vision to life. The video secured over 90,000 views on YouTube and reached 8.6 million people through a satellite media tour.
The video effectively met our objectives, highlighting Martin County's unique, eco-friendly attractions. Since launching, we've developed 65 eco-tours, attracted over 1,500 program participants, and achieved significant media coverage and awards. Our efforts have also inspired other tourism boards to adopt similar programs, promoting environmental stewardship nationwide.
