KareHero is on a mission to improve the lives of family carers. In 2023, the UK's ageing population reached a tipping point, with more people in the workforce now looking after a family member over 65 than a child under 15.
Two years ago, my father fell ill and was hospitalised. I subsequently found myself spending months trying to juggle work and caring responsibilities, spending 100s of hours trying to navigate the very complex care system that left me feeling despair.
One day, as I sat in my car outside a hospital, it dawned on me that ANYONE trying to care for a loved one and manage a full-time job was likely going through a similar journey to mine. The next day, I quit my job and pledged to find a solution for myself and every employee going through this.
Today, our offering comprises of a care matching service (CareSourcer.com) that is free and open to the public, as well as a digital + human care concierge service (KareHero) offered as an employee benefit to employers and insurance companies. We are also working with major UK charities to use technology as a platform to reach the broader carer population.

Since we started trading in April 2023, KareHero has made a direct and meaningful impact to over 700,000 families, by assisting them in navigating the challenges of caregiving, including helping:
- 700k caregivers find the right care for their loved ones and / or get access to our dedicated care concierge
- Reduce delayed discharge (aka “bed back log”) in hospitals by 40%, saving the NHS £10k per day for a bed space
- Untapped £200k of care funding for 50 employees within 3 months
- Saved 20k hours of caregiver time in understanding, finding and funding care
- Increased the success rate of funding applications by 5x and supported hundreds of funding appeals
- Helped a patient regain mobility after suffering a stroke, by closely supporting her son
- Facilitated remote care for family members who cannot be by their loved ones
- We are soon to reach over 1 million families
Feedback from our early care concierge customers has been overwhelmingly positive, with an average net promoter score of 75 maintained over the last 6 months.

Our overarching differentiator is our breadth of our approach. While our competitors focus on specific segments of the caregiver journey (the majority focus solely on finding care), we see the real value in providing a truly comprehensive solution that covers the entire caregiver journey. Our fully end-to-end solution aims to empower caregivers from the minute they want to ask questions, through funding and finding care as well as emergency care, hospital discharge, funding applications, appeals, clinical care assessments and care set up, to someone’s last breath.
Since April of 2023, we have brought in 175 years of experience in the care sector, and consolidated a business that has helped over 3 million individuals understand, find and fund care over 8 years. Our website saw 101k visitors in Jan 2024 alone.
However, core to our mission is NEVER charging the caregiver for the support they need. As such, we are working with leading employers, charities and UK employee benefits organisations, to expand our reach and are also backed by the former Chairman of NHS, former CEO of BUPA, and the Chairman of Comic Relief who are champions for the mission.
