Filipinos love mobile games. A 2023 report states that 95% of internet users in the Philippines are gamers. Infinix Philippines recognizes this opportunity as it makes mobile gaming more accessible through affordable smartphones with impressive specs.
Last year, Infinix launched the NOTE 30 Series, an ultra-fast phone offering a sensational gaming experience. To highlight its features and Infinix’s exclusive partnership with Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), Infinix mounted its first MLBB tournament, Guard Your Goddess Miya (GYGM) Tournament, which was held online and onground at the Market! Market! Activity Center in Taguig City.
The tournament featured six teams of Infinix fans, who battled it out to become the first Infinix GYGM Champion. It also featured Infinix’s Chief Gaming Officers (CGOs), Cherizawa, Kristine, and Yskaela. It aimed to engage the gaming community and showcase the Infinix NOTE 30 Series’ gaming capabilities, particularly the NOTE 30 5G.
Infinix conceptualized a unique rule to stand out from other MLBB tournaments. GYGM rules have regular 5v5 MLBB matches, but each team is required to protect their “goddess” (Miya player) while attacking the enemy base.
On June 18, the GYGM Semi-Finals was broadcasted on Infinix Philippines’ official Facebook page, featuring six MLBB teams vying for the championship. Infinix CGOs also competed in a fun GYGM showmatch. In the end, three teams came out on top: Pampamilya, Nover Esports, and Undr4fted.
The Grand Finals of the GYGM tournament was held on June 25 at the Market! Market! Activity Center. It was also broadcasted live on Infinix Philippines’ official Facebook page. The three finalists were assigned a CGO each to play all matches with them throughout the Grand Finals, showcasing a collaborative experience with gamers and influencers who love MLBB.
Team Pampamilya became the first GYGM Champion, taking home P50,000, Infinix NOTE 30 5G phones, and Elite MLBB Hero Skins. Runners-up were also awarded MLBB diamonds and hero skins, and phone accessories.
The event also had interactive booths, like selling kiosks, fun games, and a photo wall with MLBB cosplayers. Infinix held raffle draws where lucky winners took home Infinix phones and merchandise.
GYGM’s online Semi-Finals recorded 365 peak views with over 2,700 comments and 262 reactions. While the onground Grand Finals saw approximately 182,717 foot traffic, including 463 public and 43 media sign-ups. Guests also bought 83 units of the Infinix NOTE 30 Series at the venue.
The online engagement shows the massive popularity of MLBB in the Philippines and Filipinos’ passion for eSports. This also raised awareness for the Infinix NOTE 30 Series as a reliable gaming and lifestyle smartphone, further amplified by the extensive media coverage with P5,750,000 total media values from top publications, like Inquirer.net and Manila Bulletin, and tech blogs.
The players also had high praises for the Infinix NOTE 30 Series. Team Pampamilya lauded its smooth performance during their matches. Meanwhile, Team Pride of Echo, who was one of the semi-finalists, said it’s “worth the price,” especially for students.
Infinix successfully executed both phases of the GYGM Tournament. Despite challenges, it was able to deliver an exciting event showcasing Infinix’s dedication to support the local eSports scene.
