Founded in 1938 with the mission of supporting the entire society, especially tradesmen and SMEs, Halkbank stands out as one of the country's well-established and reputable brands that has grown steadily by pioneering the development of both the banking sector and the national economy in its 86-year history.
In the Turkish economy, about 95% of the workplaces and 50% of the employment in the manufacturing industry belong to small-scale enterprises. According to the results of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor report, Turkey ranks 3rd in its region in terms of total entrepreneurial activity. However, very few of these ventures are successful due to a lack of entrepreneurial courage, lack of financial support and financial literacy. According to TUIK national statistics in Turkey, only 41% of new startups survive for 5 years.
Socio-politically strategically important and rich in natural resources, Turkey has a young population. However, 25% of Turkey's young population is neither in education nor employed. And only 36% of women joins workforce. Encouraging new ventures by supporting the entrepreneurship ecosystem is critical not only for economic activities but also for youth participation in the labor force.

Halkbank has been putting all its financial and brand strength, knowledge, experience, technology and infrastructure at the service of new entrepreneurs since its establishment. Continuing to serve the SDG titled “to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and economic employment and decent work for all," Halkbank has continued to contribute to the increase in youth and women employment by enabling young people to start and expand their businesses through Entrepreneur Loans.
As in previous years, supporting entrepreneurship is a priority among Halkbank's strategic focus areas in 2023. While Halkbank offers solutions that will cover all entrepreneurs, it concentrates its entrepreneurial support on 2 main focuses: Young Entrepreneurs and Women Entrepreneurs.
After establishing Turkish banking industry’s first and specially planned “Women Entrepreneurs Department” 2021, Halkbank continued its efforts for supporting women entrepreneurs at full speed in 2023.
‘’The Bank of Productive Turkey," Halkbank, with a vision to contribute to the development of the entrepreneurship ecosystem, has launched the "Entrepreneur Support Packages" product in 2022, a first in Turkey.
6 different support loan packages and Technopark Support package were created for diverse needs of entrepreneurs. With these credit packages, a wide range of financial support alternatives is offered to university graduate young entrepreneurs to experienced professionals who want to start their own business.
In addition to the special products developed for young entrepreneurs, the Bank also develops other important initiatives to grow the entrepreneurship ecosystem, such as comprehensive support programs and efforts to improve financial literacy.

Halkbank Entrepreneur Support Packages are Turkey's first entrepreneur-oriented special loan packages.
Since March 2022, Halkbank has provided loans totaling over 26,5 billion TL to more than 165,000 entrepreneurs of all ages and education levels. Additionally, with the Women Entrepreneur Credit Support Package, a total of over 57 billion TL in credit support has been provided to 220,000 women entrepreneurs.
Halkbank Entrepreneur Support Packages are differentiated from their followers in the sector in terms of volume, amount, reach and scope; through the Digital Credit Platform, Halkbank has provided the opportunity for all entrepreneurs, whether they are Halkbank customers or not, to apply for loans from their mobile devices without visiting a branch. With its entrepreneur loans, Halkbank has reached all 81 provinces and 922 districts of Turkey, thus reaching the most remote corners of the country.
In addition to special products developed for entrepreneurs, the Bank also develops other important initiatives to grow the entrepreneurship ecosystem, such as comprehensive support programs and efforts to improve financial literacy. The Entrepreneur Academy, Halkbank SME Development Program, professional Chamber Collaborations, University mentoring Programs, Youth Meetings and Entrepreneur Events are only soma examples among others.
Halkbank implemented innovative idea hackathon JetLuck for young entrepreneurship ides with the engaging concept of 50-seconds-elevator-speech. In this competition young entrepreneurs present their ideas to Turkey’s top business people in -literally- an elevator in just 50 seconds.
The Bank also launched Hubrica accelator program for seeding new ideas. Youth in Action Video Series to encourage young potantials.
