Voyage is an Australian platform specifically built to connect foreign students with businesses based in the country. While the experience is important, a well thought out interface was our priority given the several different types of users coming to the platform, the languages it would need to support, and the importance of information being input and output accurately.
Students are asked to create a profile, called a “passport” that reflects their educational level, skills, achievements, visa status, and references and competencies. While the students are responsible for providing accurate information, we wanted to do everything we could to make sure the forms, fields, and interactions all made it easier and helped ensure accuracy as they leveraged the platform.
Employers, on the other hand, publish job postings and review candidates that are uniquely qualified for positions. Much like the student information inputs, we wanted to do everything we could to help employers post the most accurate job information possible so students could clearly understand what they were applying for.
Once all of the information is in the system, students are matched with employers for positions that are uniquely matched to their abilities and visa requirements. A list of candidates are then sent to the employers to review. Again, the process for students and employers is important, but the interface and interactions they are performing are even more critical, so we looked at ways to improve the elements users were engaging with within the platform.
Across the entire platform, these design considerations included things like color and hierarchy of information, form fields, button interactions, common digital patterns, and common ways information is presented to users within digital applications.
Consistency and clarity were our driving forces, which lead to a well developed design system that helped us achieve a functional and seamless user experience through a well developed interface.
