Ethical Property Investments is a full-service property management organization, specializing in adapted housing for individuals with disabilities. As an experienced NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) provider for the past eight years, our primary focus has been building and leasing properties tailored to the needs of our tenants. We are pioneers in creating investment opportunities in NDIS-compliant housing, setting a benchmark that many in the industry now strive to emulate.
Our success stems from becoming the first privately owned organization to bill NDIS for accommodation services, paving the way for others. Our innovative approach includes a unique process that requires landlords to secure approval from our provider for a long-term, 20-year partnership, ensuring stability and quality for tenants. With a rich history in the sector, my family and I have amassed over $14 million in NDIS housing assets and $6 million in rooming housing. Our operations and strategies are guided by extensive experience and a commitment to ethical investment, aligning investor returns with the welfare of our community's most vulnerable members. This dual focus on social impact and financial viability underscores our mission to enhance lives through dedicated service and responsible property management.
- If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this second question: Outline the organization's achievements since the beginning of 2022 that you wish to bring to the judges' attention (up to 250 words):

Since the beginning of 2020, I have led our organization to remarkable achievements, which align with my core belief that businesses should actively contribute to societal betterment while also achieving commercial success.
A significant highlight is the founding of Empowered Liveability, now Victoria's largest privately owned provider of NDIS housing. This initiative not only offers tailored housing solutions for people with disabilities but also addresses critical social issues, such as family and domestic violence. The direct positive impact on individuals' lives is profoundly fulfilling and underscores the value of our mission.
Our innovative approach to property investment, which integrates profitability with social impact, has reshaped industry norms and inspired others. Recognition as a multi-award-winning enterprise affirms the effectiveness of our strategies. Additionally, receiving endorsements from figures like Richard Branson and former Hon. Michael Sukkar has validated our efforts and opened avenues for more significant collaborations.
I am particularly proud of our scalable initiatives. We have constructed 60 houses for disability service providers and built over 30 homes to alleviate rental stress, with another 30 underway, amplifying our societal impact. These achievements exemplify the power of ethical entrepreneurship.
Despite facing resistance to change within the industry, our determination has allowed us to educate stakeholders, forge essential connections, and overcome challenges. Looking ahead, I am committed to fostering further growth and driving impactful change by leveraging innovation and collaboration to empower communities and ensure that our business succeeds financially and socially.
- If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this third question: Explain why the achievements you have highlighted are unique or significant. If possible compare the achievements to the performance of other players in your industry and/or to the organization's past performance (up to 250 words):

The achievements we’ve listed are not just significant; they’re unique. Our approach to property investment stands out because it seamlessly blends social impact with profitability. Unlike traditional models and our competitors, we focus on creating inclusive, dual-purpose homes. This means that future residents co-design these properties, ensuring that the housing built meets their specific needs, such as accessibility for individuals with disabilities. This strategic design fosters inclusivity and enhances the livability of each home, making it more than just another house.
Our approach to hybrid home models not only benefits the community but also the investors. It allows us to bypass the long wait times—often up to 12 months—for government disability sector grants. We achieve this by allowing temporary tenancy in these specially designed homes while awaiting grant approvals. This ensures continuous income flow for investors and viability for a diverse tenant base. Compared to traditional models in the industry, our approach not only secures investor returns more reliably but also contributes positively to community welfare by increasing housing accessibility.
My dedication to refining operational processes is evident in our enhanced communication strategies. By prioritizing transparency and actively seeking stakeholder feedback, we have improved engagement and build trust, ensuring that all parties are well-informed and involved throughout the development process.
By leveraging innovative solutions, we’re not just changing the landscape of property investment; we’re improving lives and making substantial contributions to solving the homelessness crisis, proving that it’s feasible to achieve financial success while making a positive social impact.
