    Makati Development Corporation (MDC), subsidiary of property developer Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI), is one of the largest Engineering, Procurement, and Construction companies in the Philippines. MDC holds five ISO certifications, including ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management Systems. MDC is a US Green Building Council Gold Member and is also a Green Business Certification, Inc. Member.

    As part of the Ayala Group, MDC supports the Ayala Net Zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 2050 Vision. To do so, MDC embedded Sustainability into its new Corporate Vision Statement launched in 2023, and began implementing a three-pillar Sustainability strategy (Strategy, Advocacy, and Application).

    Through the Application Pillar, MDC can provide meaningful value for its stakeholders and partner communities by providing a fully-integrated Sustainability Consultancy service. MDC is one of the few construction firms in the country to offer a comprehensive sustainable construction consultancy and virtual environment simulation service for clients.

    With a growing demand for green building certifications, MDC established an in-house Sustainability Team comprising of 25 professionals with expertise in LEED, WELL, EDGE, and BERDE certifications. 

    To date, MDC has delivered 328,199.52 square meters of LEED-certified projects with 12,477.38 tCO2 equivalent avoided emissions per year. Under WELL, the MDC Corporate Center is currently at 47% certification completion, while 6 construction projects are ongoing Pre-Assessment for EDGE.

    With MDC being the largest producer of low-carbon concrete in the Philippines, in addition to its numerous decarbonization efforts and industry partnerships to promote circularity, MDC will lead the way in greening the Philippine construction industry in the years to come. 

    Currently, with more than 200 construction projects across the Philippines, MDC will gradually introduce sustainable initiatives and innovations in the coming years leading to 2050. Our sustainability and climate protection capabilities will add meaningful impact and value for our customers and the Filipino people as it will pave the way for the construction of more environmentally sound buildings and developments in the country.

    Our efforts recently bore fruit as MDC won two Silver Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards for Innovation in Sustainability (Sustainable Business Models and Sustainability and Climate Protection Services).
