According to Verizon’s annual data breach investigations report, password hacking is behind 80% of all cyberattacks, making the move to passwordless authentication more important than ever. And, with guidance from the White House OMB, NIST, and CISA all pointing toward the growing risk of phishing-based attacks, a sound passwordless strategy must deliver phishing resistance.

The path to passwordless, phishing-resistant authentication is not always straightforward – particularly for large organizations with complex, heterogeneous IT environments. Unlike many approaches that are done in silos across multiple authentication methods, identity types, use cases, and existing IAM systems, Axiad allows customers to move to a passwordless future without the friction and risk of fragmented solutions.

Axiad delivers organization-wide passwordless orchestration to connect users and machines to data and applications from anywhere, helping organizations optimize their cybersecurity posture while navigating underlying IT complexity. This fully integrated passwordless approach helps organizations become more phishing resistant – because end-users no longer are the keepers of multiple passwords - preventing ransomware attacks/account takeovers, and takes a critical step forward to implementing Zero Trust security. It also offers an important balance between protection and usability – empowering end users to easily access what they need, when they need it, without compromising security.

Axiad Cloud offers a full suite of modular, passwordless authentication capabilities, including passwordless Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Phishing-Resistant Authentication, Certificate-Based Authentication for IAM, Passwordless Orchestration, and PKI as a Service. It supports the widest range of credentials in the market, including FIDO, Windows Hello for Business, YubiKeys, smart cards, mobile MFA, TPM and biometrics, and more.

And – while most passwordless solutions require a password or other shared human secret, this isn’t the case with Axiad. Other solutions typically hide the secret from the end user to deliver a “passwordless experience” – but behind the scenes, the shared secret is still there and can be stolen and exploited. Axiad delivers a true “no password” passwordless environment, without shared secrets. As Axiad Cloud is delivered as a SaaS solution, it's continuously updated with new capabilities, patches, and functionality. This typically occurs weekly, but at least once a month.

  5. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this third question: Outline the market performance, critical reception, and customer satisfaction with the product or service to date. State monetary or unit sales figures to date, if possible, and how they compare to expectations or past performance. Provide links to laudatory product or service reviews. Include some customer testimonials, if applicable (up to 350 words):

Trusted by government agencies and Fortune 500 companies across highly regulated industries including financial services, healthcare, aerospace & defense, oil & energy, retail, manufacturing and more, Axiad Cloud has deployed to large, multinational organizations and enterprises. It’s currently listed as the number-one provider of Passwordless Authentication solutions – as determined by customer reviews – on the PeerSpot peer review site. Some read in part:

    • CISO (insurance): “The solution has also saved us time by having end users troubleshoot issues through the MyCircle feature and has definitely reduced the efforts of our administrators. It is saving us five to 10 minutes per incident.”
    • Director of IT Services (legal services): “Eight months after implementation, we started to see a decline in help desk calls for security issues, to the point that the number of calls about our multi-factor solution is less than our historical number of password-related calls.”
    • Enterprise Security Architect (retailer): “It also empowers users to self-issue their authenticators and manage them over time and that’s important to our organization. We don’t want a help desk ticket every time somebody needs to issue a new authenticator or change one. The more that the users can do themselves, the better.”

Deploying Axiad Cloud is easy – the platform supports heterogeneous IT environments – e.g., organizations operating Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems or with multiple existing IAM systems in place – allowing organizations to remove gaps and inconsistencies in how they authenticate across complex ecosystems, and become more programmatic in their overall cybersecurity practices.

Additionally, Axiad delivers an average ROI of 6.9X, with savings coming from a variety of different avenues, including:

    • Moving on-premises authentication capabilities to the cloud, freeing up IT resources.
    • Reducing departmental time and costs for things like password resets
    • Automating processes and checklists (e.g., self-serving smart card setup) before an employee can gain full access to company systems.
    • Streamlining the management of all digital certificates for every type of device or workload.
    • Adding phishing resistance seamlessly across the entire environment without requiring upgrades or major modifications (or replacement of existing IAM ecosystems).
  6. You have the option to answer this final question: Reference any attachments of supporting materials throughout this nomination and how they provide evidence of the claims you have made in this nomination (up to 250 words):

    Axiad Cloud brochure:

Stats within this brochure support the need for a true passwordless experience for enterprises, including how 84% of enterprises experience an identity-related breach in 12 months and nearly 90% of “passwordless” solutions actually do use a password or shared secret, leaving it open for hackers to get in - Axiad does not.

     Axiad Cloud website page:

This page describes the five offerings of Axiad Cloud listed above, along with the authentication problems the platform solves.

Blue Cross Blue Shield case study:

This PeerSpot review shows Axiad Cloud has been deployed for over six years, and the case study notes the platform has been “flawless since we’ve had it.” The organization uses Axiad for multi-factor authentication through VPN, as well as for local endpoint access and VDI across 10,000-12,000 users in the organization.

     Government organization case study:

This organization initially started using Axiad to migrate its on premises PKI environment into Axiad Cloud and move all its certificate management. One of the company’s biggest achievements with the platform was it was able to enable a self-service password reset. This is a huge time saver, as typically, its largest service desk volume was related to authentication-specific issues with expired certificates, not being able to provide a challenge-response or forgetting passwords. Automation has freed up IT teams to perform other tasks.

    Certificate-based authentication release:

This release describes the latest offering Axiad Cloud provides - Certificate-Based Authentication (CBA) for IAM, a more secure, phishing-resistant form of multi-factor authentication.
