Nomination Title: Aternity v7.1
Tell the story about this nominated product or service (up to 650 words). Describe its function, features, benefits, and performance to date:
Today's IT organizations are leaving no stone unturned to improve the workforce productivity. IT Ops and line of business teams must address the complexity involved in assuring quality of service and workforce productivity. Aternity’s unique, user-centric vantage point closes the visibility gap existing with network and server-centric application performance management tools.
Headquartered at Westborough, MA, Aternity’s Workforce Application Performance Management (APM) Version 7.1 monitors almost any business process within any application running on any type of physical, virtual or mobile device–out of the box, in other words with no programming required. Unlike APM products that focus on the performance of web-based applications, Aternity Workforce APM focuses from the perspective of the end user's experience, to enable the enterprise to measure, manage, and improve workforce productivity.
Aternity’s Version 7.1 of its Workforce APM Platform unveiled two critical capabilities that further reaffirms its vision for delivering a robust set of monitoring capabilities to support the growing complexity of today’s IT environments:
(1) The Aternity Mobile Wrapper. Aternity Workforce APM Version7.1, though its Mobile Wrapper, gives full control to the enterprise IT Ops teams or app store administrators to instrument mobile apps without app developers or access to the code, and with no loss of monitoring functionality. This provides a full range of capabilities to app developers, IT Ops, and the line of business to ensure quality user experience for mobile apps, as soon as they are ready to be rolled out. And because there are no code changes, there is no extra development effort or impact on release schedule when apps are updated. To instrument an app, IT Ops teams or app store administrators add the Aternity Mobile SDK to their Apple .ipa or Android .apk application archive file using the Aternity Mobile Wrapper. This process can be done in minutes, and is as simple as adding content to a .zip file. The new .ipa or .apk file is then signed as needed, and posted to the enterprise app store for distribution. When users download the app, it is fully instrumented and ready to be monitored. The Aternity Mobile Wrapper monitors the interactions between the app and the core libraries of the mobile device, to provide both app level diagnostics, such as crash analytics, app error reporting, and service performance metrics; and business analytics, such as SLA monitoring, data plan management, and activity-based costing. As an alternative approach to the Aternity Mobile Wrapper, app developers can include the no-cost, tag-free Aternity Mobile SDK in their app. There is no loss of functionality between the approaches.
(2) New, Out-of-the-Box Web Page Monitoring. Aternity’s Business Activity Analytics enable enterprises to define a user’s interaction with an application in the context of business workflow. Verion 7.1 begins the release of capabilities that enable enterprises to monitor business activities executed on web based applications out of the box, without building signatures, and analyze performance across the full range of Aternity dashboards.
Many of the IT organizations Aternity works with everyday are undergoing a revolution of perspective. As a result, the future of business requires a whole new way of looking at IT service delivery. Progressive IT departments understand that success is about serving the business goals of the company, and from an IT point of view that revolves around End User Experience productivity. Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools can provide millions of metrics about every device in the infrastructure, but the ultimate measurement of IT success is the user experience.
Aternity, through its release of Version 7.1, continues to expand and push innovation in End User Experience Monitoring that spans across every major IT industry trend from enterprise mobility to virtualization to the Internet of Things (IoT), so that ultimately, the company continues to be committed to its vision: Understanding the User Experience is the First Step to Making it Better.
