The Elevation Fit iPad app is a workout-tracking application aimed at personal trainers, to enable them to track their clients’ workouts in real time, and progress over time. The current app market for health and fitness trackers is robust, but few are aimed at trainers, who manage fitness data for many users, and track workouts with clipboards.

The app faces the logistical constraint of being used primarily in the context of an active, guided workout, so in order to be effective, data tracking needed to be “faster than pencil and clipboard” to provide value. The app needed to contend with a database of 3000+ exercises, including how-to photos, as well as the need for bidirectional synchronization of client and workout data to and from the web.
