Every year, upfront events hosted by networks, streaming services, and media companies battle to present their lineups and impress advertisers. The first ever Amazon Upfront brought together top media executives, press, and A-list talent to showcase the service in an extremely competitive space. Sparks, A Freeman Company was tasked with creating an extraordinary show that felt exclusive enough for a critical in-person audience and energizing enough for a broadcast audience tuning in across the globe. The ultimate goal of the event was to increase ad sales and commitments, while featuring the most sought-after content in the world creating a huge splash in the marketplace.
The event kicked off with a high-energy performance by Alicia Keys. The presentation also featured appearances by stars like Jake Gyllenhaal, Will Ferrell, Reese Witherspoon, and Roger Federer, showcasing their content across the entire Amazon Universe, including Prime Video, Amazon MGM Studios, Wondery, and more.
Sparks crafted the show flow, wrote the script, and produced all on-screen content, while also managing the technical and theatrical execution. We worked closely with talent, executives and multiple internal teams collaborating to ensure a seamless performance.
Given the unusually low ceilings and complex room with multiple columns and ‘bad viewing spots’, Sparks designed the stage to maximize the space with the largest screens we could possibly imagine.
With no green rooms available at the venue, we created a bespoke 'trailer town' for executives and celebrity guests. We brought in more than 10 trailers, each with a variety of rooms and accommodations for over 30+ celebrity & A-list talent.
Amazon’s Upfront resulted in 3,000+ attendees and over 650 press hits, accomplishing and surpassing their goals. It was one of the most talked about Upfronts of the week, having achieved our client’s goals of creating a big impact and effectively communicating the theme of scale that sets them apart.
