    5G coverage is substantial in many countries with an average of 40% worldwide. And yet 5G has not reached its potential. Despite its 10x higher speeds than 4G, it has struggled to command new revenue from consumers and businesses. However, this is about to change.

    A vital component of the 5G network, called the 5G core, is only just being deployed. With this key element in place, 5G will have the ability to connect everything from complex machines in heavy industry to simple sensors in the remotest locations. As such it will power the biggest growth markets of the 21st century: drones, remote healthcare, extended reality, smart cities, autonomous vehicles etc.

    To capitalize on these growth opportunities, the telco industry needs a new strategy for charging and billing.     • New models: Support for complex multi-partner business models (revenue sharing, outcome-based, data sponsorship, tiered pricing, pay-as-you-go), and B2B2X enablers by supporting dynamic settlements and billing-on-behalf for partner end-customers.
    • Distributed cloud deployment: Enabling extremely low latency services hosted on telco or public edge cloud. Delivered as a SaaS model to reduce costs.
