Promising Practices, a Stride Inc.-operated conference which began in 2011, is an award-winning conference where Stride educators showcase innovative, yet practical strategies, ideas, and resources unique to online learning’s challenges and opportunities. Conference popularity and attendance have risen steadily year-over-year. This year’s conference will take place on March 1st, 2024, and the theme is Limitless: Innovative Approaches to Teaching and Learning.

When registering for the conference, users gain access to the conference and receive one year one year of free access to the Stride Professional Development Center, an ever-growing library of on-demand, mobile-friendly PD courses.  The live, semi-live and on-demand sessions are available on the day of the event and are accessible for 30 days following the conference.  Our flexible virtual format allows educators to attend the event at a time and location that works best for them, saving time and money, and supporting the environment. Upon conclusion of the conference, each participant will receive a certificate for PD clock hours.

The conference is organized across various genres of curated sessions that attendees personalize to their own professional development needs. The themes and their descriptions include:

    • Diversity & Inclusion: Leveraging student diversity and creating an atmosphere of inclusion yields better understanding and learning.
    • Student & School Culture: Promote teaching strategies increase engagement through rigor, student choice, and promoting learning experiences for students to explore, inquire, or research.
    • Instructional Practice: Discover ways to grow professionally and personally that support a sense of purpose and overall life satisfaction while balancing feeling energized and empowered to do meaningful work.
    • Leadership: Cultivate leadership practices that build transparent, authentic, and powerful cultures while deepening the level of trust and sense of personal value.
    • Student Support: All things supporting learners and colleagues working with Gifted/Advanced students, English Language Learners, Career Readiness Education, and Special Programs.

    Additional benefits include:

    • Access to dozens of learning sessions led by educators for educators
    • Network with like-minded educators in a special roundtable space
    • Visit vendor booths in the virtual Exhibit Hall
    • Earn points toward our Leaderboard competition and win prizes in several drawings during the day!

With an overall attendee satisfaction rate of over 90% year after year, Promising Practices is well received. In 2022, survey results showed that the sessions resulted in over 113,000 views across 5,600 enrollees from 48 of 50 states. This is especially notable given that the COVID-19 pandemic nearly forced all conferences to cancel or hastily transition to an online environment. As other national conference organizers struggled with pandemic restrictions, the Promising Practices conference made headlines as a “Pandemic Proof Professional Development” by Business Wire (https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20220217005875/en/).
