Its services are provided to businesses and organizations across the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. Ameresco has a proven track record of completing energy-saving and environmentally responsible projects for various clients including federal, state and local governments, healthcare and educational institutions and commercial and industrial customers. Ameresco has over 1,000 employees worldwide, providing local expertise to clients across different territories. Ameresco prides itself on prioritizing employee engagement, diversity and community service.

    Ameresco’s ESG Ambassadors program  – which was launched to address challenges caused by COVID-19, climate change and civil unrest, aims to ensure transparency and accountability for all ESG metrics, establish benchmark goals and strategies and promote best corporate governance and business practices.     Notable Ameresco accomplishments over the past two years include:

    Kūpono Solar: This joint venture between Ameresco and subcontractors will produce 42 MW of solar energy with a battery energy storage system equaling 168 MWh for the residents of O‘ahu. These batteries store solar energy beyond sunset hours, enabling the project to deliver renewable energy to approximately 10,000 homes. 

    Philly Streetlight Improvement Project: Ameresco partnered with the city of Philadelphia to advance the city toward becoming a carbon-neutral city by 2050. The project will convert over 120,000 streetlights to light-emitting diode fixtures, including controls and networking. 

    Holy Cross Energy & Colorado Mountain College: Ameresco installed a 5 MW solar PV and 15 MWh battery energy storage system at Colorado Mountain College - the largest battery complex of its kind in Colorado. This project will deliver an estimated annual reduction of 6,853 metric tons of CO2.

    Taylor Farms: North America's largest producer of healthy fresh foods partnered with Ameresco and subcontractors to install a microgrid capable of taking one of their food processing facilities off the traditional grid. 

    McCarty Road Plant: The landfill to renewable natural gas plant project creates clean energy resources for the regional economy and reduces greenhouse gas emissions within the environment. This long-term partnership will reduce more than 61,000 tons of CO2, equivalent to 103,000 passenger cars removed from the roads, 58 million gallons of gasoline not combusted or 146,000 acres of pine forest conserved every year over the project life.

    Ameresco's commitment to environmental sustainability has been evident in 2022 and 2023. Ameresco has set ambitious goals that aim to reduce 500 million metric tons of carbon emissions for its customers by the year 2050. Additionally, Ameresco aims to achieve net-zero carbon emissions for its own operations by 2040. 

    Ameresco has made significant progress towards achieving this objective by saving approximately 14.7 million metric tons of CO2 in 2022 alone, across Ameresco's assets that are owned, operated and customer projects. In 2022, Ameresco's customer projects and owned clean energy assets contributed to an emissions reduction equivalent to a decrease in greenhouse gas emissions from passenger vehicles by 36 billion miles. This achievement is a testament to Ameresco's unwavering dedication to sustainability and Ameresco is well on its way to achieving its long-term goals. Ameresco recognizes that sustainability is a team effort and works collaboratively with its stakeholders, including customers, partners and communities to achieve these targets. Ameresco prioritizes safety in all its operations, ensuring that its employees and contractors operate in a safe and secure environment. Ameresco has taken the lead in promoting environmental sustainability by setting ambitious net-zero carbon emission goals. Ameresco prioritizes employee engagement, diversity and community service. In 2022, Ameresco invested in 24,000 hours of employee training and introduced a state-of-the-art Learning Management System to enhance the organization's skill sets and knowledge. These achievements in 2022-2023 set Ameresco apart from its competitors and demonstrates the organization’s unwavering dedication to sustainability and responsible business practices.
