Hilton Software is the prime contractor for the Department of Defense’s Aeronautical Mobile Application (Aero App) and the Department of Transportation to aid the FAA Flight Check Team. Aero App is an aeronautical multi-platform Electronic Flight Bag that is a dissemination tools for DOD crews.
Hilton Software started when its founder, Hilton Goldstein, was flying sick kids to hospitals and discovered that the charts, the route, the math, and even the weather could be stored and provided by a single electronic device. Hilton Software developed WingX aimed at General Aviation pilots and later developed Aero App, owned by the DOD, which stores a vast amount of worldwide military data. Hilton Software spearheaded the effort to move DOD’s Aeronautical data to the cloud enabling safe and secure aeronautical geo-intelligence transfer. Instead of the old status-quo paper-based products, crews now have all they need at their fingertips. This resulted in hundreds of pounds of paper being eliminated on every flight resulting in lower fuel burn usage and lower engine emissions which benefits our environment and taxpayers. This transition revolutionized the way military flight crews fly missions by improving safety and mission effectiveness through the digital transformation of aeronautical products and data.

Hilton Software was recently awarded a multi-year multi-million dollar contract by the United States Department of Defense to continue decade-long architecture, development, and support of Aero App. Aero App is a significant multi-platform mobile data dissemination platform and has transformed the way military crews obtain and interact with their data. Hilton Software leads the way and continues to deliver high-quality software and reliable data that enables pilots to fly safer and more efficiently.
The company’s culture is rooted in innovation. Hilton Software was recently awarded Patent 11,885,623 which describes a novel way to position aircraft symbols and the like on charts which are not drawn to scale thereby opening an entirely new capability in aviation situational awareness. In addition, a new technology that was recently developed by Hilton Software is the Terrain Sector Analysis, which provides the Federal Aviation Administration with critical safety of navigation information to navigate terrain and vertical obstructions and design procedures to help keep the flying public safe. This system accurately and with excellent geographical granularity depicts sector-based minimum safe altitudes. This is achieved by integrating terrain and obstacle data and applying advanced mathematical formulae to ensure the required separation from terrain and obstacles. Numerous prototypes were tried, mathematical processes conceived, and hours of flight simulation were performed to develop Terrain Sector Analysis. The award of the Aeronautical Mobile Application contract was a sole source contract in which the United States Department of Defense asserted that Hilton Software was the only company suitable for the task of continuing to improve and support its Aero App. Moreover, the United States Department of Transportation’s exercise of their latest option year is more evidence that the United States Government sees Hilton Software not only as a significant aeronautical company, but the best company to continue working on their mobile solutions for the foreseeable future.
With our latest solution, Terrain Sector Analysis, we are taking a step towards fulfilling our social responsibility and ensuring the safety of our pilots. Every year, many lives are lost due to Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT). Our technology equips pilots with situational awareness that enables them to confidently navigate through challenging flying conditions caused by fog, clouds, or darkness. By providing pilots with a highly detailed depiction of sector-based minimum safe altitudes, Hilton Software is enabling pilots to ensure their passengers reach their destination safely.
