We launched the Rainin Fellowship to support Bay Area artists working in Dance, Film, Theater and Public Space who push the boundaries of creative expression, anchor local communities and advance the field. This fellowship provides a sizable, unrestricted grant of $100,000, which each fellow can spend as they see fit, and supplemental support tailored to their needs.
We created a video series to announce the fellowship, including a 1-minute teaser video, four 2.5-minute videos featuring each Fellow, and a recorded virtual event in which the artists discussed public healing, race, community and more. We posted the videos across social media with captions to ensure accessibility. We included paid advertising to reach our goals of elevating the work of the Fellows nationally and increasing their standing in their respective fields.
This helped us garner 170K views of the videos, including 65K ThruPlays on Facebook. We were pleased to see this 1,378% increase from an Arts video series from 2020 that garnered 11.5K views. Beyond the numbers, we also received encouraging comments including, “It’s about time. Inspiring” and “Congrats to these stellar fellows from Oakland who are creating new art for a better community & society.”
