Schoolytics makes data easy for educators. Our goal is to give teachers and administrators data superpowers. Schoolytics is a student data platform that connects data from many sources and puts it all in one place. On the platform, users can access dashboards and data visualizations (with 0 data headaches). We also help teachers save time by automating manual tasks, like creating individualized student progress reports. Administrators, teachers, parents, and students are all able to access the Schoolytics platform to see their data. For example, principals can explore how student engagement looks across their whole school, while students can find out what percent of assignments they have turned in and what’s still missing. We also set up school districts with a managed data warehouse to organize and centralize their data--this allows them to do more of their own data analysis over the long run. Our ability to manage large data also allows us to show users their historical data and unify data across numerous sources.

In order to do meaningful data analysis, or to connect data from different learning platforms, teachers and administrators have to spend exorbitant amounts of time exporting data and making sense of it.  In addition, differentiated instruction with personalized content for every student is very difficult and also time consuming.  Our platform saves time for teachers by both automating manual tasks (such as sending students a list of missing assignments) but also helps educators to get a unique and holistic view of every student’s progress.  On the flip side, administrators interested in making smart policy decisions across grade levels and schools can spot macro-level trends in the data and cut the data by different categories (which is not possible without Schoolytics) to answer new questions quickly and easily.

  5. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this third question: Outline the market performance, critical reception, and customer satisfaction with the product or service to date. State monetary or unit sales figures to date, if possible, and how they compare to expectations or past performance. Provide links to laudatory product or service reviews. Include some customer testimonials, if applicable (up to 350 words):

After just over a year of operation, Schoolytics now partners with over 50 districts and universities which serve over 300,000 students. Our customer satisfaction can be viewed by our ACV for our returning customers growing at a rate of 2.3x. We’ve been able to meet the needs of our customers and simplify their data collection and analysis efforts. We’ve also been able to save a large school district money by displacing a costly data analysis and dashboard system that used a complex data aggregator, which was not well-suited for ease of educator adoption.

In addition to our district partners, we also have grown the number of free teacher accounts from zero to over 10,000. These 10,000+ free accounts have generated about 200 qualified leads, of which we signed 50 contracts. Because we are able to turn on the platform so quickly, we offer a free trial to prospective customers, and our conversion from free trial to paid is 70% -- much higher than the industry average of 50%.

A partner of ours sought a way to integrate their Student Information System, Infinite Campus, alongside student activity data. Working with the district, we set up a data warehouse in BigQuery for the district to use as their primary data infrastructure, with enhanced access to and flexibility in the type of data analyses that the district could use. We also built a customized dashboard for their teachers and administrators to show LMS and SIS data in one place. This integration allowed the district to view all data in a singular dashboard.

Customer testimonial (Maureen Tumenas - Hadley Schools)

“Schoolytics is a data dashboard that integrates with Google Classroom. It is free for teachers. I know that "data dashboard" may not sound really cool, but this one is!  The information is presented clearly. The graphics give you tons of information at a glance. I can't see why any teacher or administrator would pass this one up.”

  6. You have the option to answer this final question: Reference any attachments of supporting materials throughout this nomination and how they provide evidence of the claims you have made in this nomination (up to 250 words):

Based on internal research, we know that using Schoolytics in the 2020-21 school year had a measurable and statistically significant positive effect on students’ assignment completion rate.  More specifically, compared to inactive teachers, teachers who actively used Schoolytics after signup had students with an assignment completion rate that was 5-10% higher. The reason this is important is that there is a clear link between (home)work completion and good grades. In addition, completing assignments reinforces learning and helps students to develop study habits and work toward mastery.

One other big area of impact is the positive effect we can have to save our users time and money, which can be reinvested in students. For teachers, we look to automate tasks to make their lives easier and save them time. Teachers are having a very difficult year, after an extremely difficult one, and anything we can do to reduce teacher strain is a good thing. Administrators can use Schoolytics to evaluate the usage and efficacy of edtech tools that teachers are (or are not) using, and make smart decisions about what to invest in more or less. We also save districts/organizations considerable sums on technology headcount (reducing the need for data engineers) and tools (obviating the need for Tableau, for example).
