In 2020, ThousandEyes introduced Internet Insights™ Network Outages, the first ever collectively powered global view of Internet performance, allowing businesses to identify, quickly troubleshoot, and mitigate network outages beyond their control to manage the impact of global network conditions on their services, and understand the ability of their workforce to perform. Now, ThousandEyes has gone a step further by unveiling the latest addition to the Internet Insights platform: Application Outages. Launched on November 9, 2021, Application Outages gives IT operations instant insight into SaaS applications on a global scale. Without any deployment requirements, IT teams now have a real-time and historic view into the availability of the SaaS applications employees rely on.

  4. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this second question: Describe the features, functions, and benefits of the nominated product or service (up to 350 words):

    Meeting the hybrid work challenge
Hybrid workers rely on seamless access to the SaaS apps that have become critical to do their jobs. But when a video call starts to drop, or the single-sign-on app becomes unavailable, IT teams struggle to understand where user-impacting issues are occurring. SaaS apps can run across multiple clouds, regions and data centers — and the public Internet plays a critical role in their delivery infrastructure. For IT teams, that means any disruption to performance becomes a troubleshooting process filled with blind spots into the environments that they don’t own and that sit beyond their control.

In this new hybrid world, visibility and context become IT’s greatest assets. Knowing where, when, how, and why an employee’s experience is poor not only saves internal IT teams’ time, but is key to working with third party providers to quickly troubleshoot.

Cisco ThousandEyes has now launched Internet Insights: Application Outages – the first global scale, end-to-end view of SaaS application performance based on real data. How does it all work? The answer lies in the collection of real data and the power of collective intelligence. When an outage occurs, Application Outages correlates the data with the SaaS domain, identifying the impact and scope almost instantly. This delivers a new layer of application capabilities, empowering proactive communication and remediation of outage events.

Powered by ThousandEyes’ collective intelligence, based on billions of ongoing measurements across thousands of global vantage points, the addition of Application Outages to Internet Insights Network Outages empowers customers with global insight into all the networks, services, and now SaaS applications that workers rely on and that impact digital experience—all in one single, global view.

  5. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this third question: Outline the market performance, critical reception, and customer satisfaction with the product or service to date. State monetary or unit sales figures to date, if possible, and how they compare to expectations or past performance. Provide links to laudatory product or service reviews. Include some customer testimonials, if applicable (up to 350 words):

Organizations today are evolving their tech stacks to accommodate for the new enterprise reality where the cloud is the new datacenter, the home the new office, and SaaS the new application stack. As the connective tissue, the Internet has become the new enterprise network and backbone to provide digital experiences to customers and employees alike.

2021 saw some of the largest, most consequential outages on record, leaving organizations scrambling to minimize disruptions to their business. More than ever before, it’s now imperative for businesses to have the right technology in place that affords them to see the cloud and Internet networks they now rely on but don’t control. Knowing where, when, how, and why digital experience is poor not only saves internal IT teams’ time, but is key to working with third party providers to quickly troubleshoot. This can only be achieved through end-to-end monitoring, which eliminates blind spots and allows customers to see the Internet as if it’s their own and understand how their network impacts application experience.

ThousandEyes creates a single source of truth view of all the disparate internal and external components and delivery paths that can impact end-user experience, making it easy for businesses to immediately pinpoint where a service-impacting issue lies so they can get it fixed, fast, before it impacts productivity, reputation and revenue.

Unlike sites that rely solely on user-reported issues, which can be misleading and distort the reality of an outage, ThousandEyes Network & Application Outages is based on real-world performance metrics based on thousands of Internet vantage points and billions of measurements. As an example, in a Newsweek article, Verizon pointed out the challenges it experienced when crowdsourced data incorrectly reported a broad-scale outage, resulting in “widespread misinformation.”

Since the Internet affects every employee and consumer alike, based on the collective data set of Network and Application Outages, ThousandEyes also launched (November 2021) the first publicly available live view of business-critical SaaS apps and Internet outages in the ThousandEyes Internet Outages Map—giving users real insights into real disruptions impacting the services they rely on, based on real performance data.

  6. You have the option to answer this final question: Reference any attachments of supporting materials throughout this nomination and how they provide evidence of the claims you have made in this nomination (up to 250 words):
