Cloud Paper was founded in 2019 on the belief that the environmental impact from the existing paper industry was unacceptable. Now they are building the world’s most sustainable paper company offering tree-free toilet paper and paper towels and are on a path to save a billion trees.
Founded by ex-Uber and Convoy employees, Cloud Paper is a leader in sustainability through its dedication to plastic-free packaging, its carbon offsetting program, FSC certification, and ongoing efforts to make its supply chain as environmentally clean as possible.
With Cloud Paper, households and businesses across the U.S. now have access to sustainable toilet paper and paper towel alternatives without sacrificing quality, cost, or experience.
- If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this second question: Outline the organization's achievements since the beginning of 2020 that you wish to bring to the judges' attention (up to 250 words):

Cloud Paper was founded as a B2B company and pivoted to DTC in 2020 to provide over two million tree-free rolls and counting to consumers. The brand has also made serious strides in its environmental impact. Through its partnership with CarbonFund, Cloud Paper has offset 1 million pounds of carbon and through its partnership with One Tree Planted, Cloud Paper is replenishing lost acres of forest land for every customer referral and review. In 2021, Cloud Paper saved 10,000 trees alone. Cloud Paper earned the highest rating a bamboo-based paper company could receive from the prestigious Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and its FSC certification, meaning all products must come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits. Cloud Paper is the only brand in its market to receive this certification.
Cloud Paper is also driving people to talk about the environmental impact of traditionally overlooked products, while making sustainable alternatives approachable/accessible. For Earth Day 2021, Cloud Paper launched Flush, a buzzy faux imitation paper products startup to take aim at the toilet paper industry giants and their use of old-growth forests to manufacture toilet paper by asking consumers to select which forests they would want to cut down in order to create their toilet paper. The long-term goal of this campaign was not about selling as many products as possible but to bring awareness to the global deforestation crisis, resulting in consumer action.
- If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this third question: Explain why the achievements you have highlighted are unique or significant. If possible compare the achievements to the performance of other players in your industry and/or to the organization's past performance (up to 250 words):

The largest tissue producers in the world continue to develop products like toilet paper from 100% virgin forest fiber, driving up the rate of global deforestation. Even more alarming, much of the pulp for these products continue to come from old-growth forests where the logging industry clears over 1 million acres of forest land every year. Cloud Paper is finding bold and innovative ways to get people at large talking about this environmental impact and make the case that switching to ultra-renewable products like Cloud Paper’s bamboo paper towels and toilet paper can have a tangible and positive impact on the planet.
- You have the option to answer this final question: Reference any attachments of supporting materials throughout this nomination and how they provide evidence of the claims you have made in this nomination (up to 250 words):
