Nomination Title: Michael C. Fina Management Team (Charles & George Fina)
- Tell the story about what this nominated management team achieved since January 1 2007 (up to 500 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:
For more than 45 years, Charles Fina, executive vice president and George Fina, president of Michael C. Fina have worked together to successfully propel Michael C. Fina from a 50 employee, local New York company to become the fastest growing employee recognition corporation in North America with over 350 employees. Under the leadership of the 2nd generation Finas, Michael C. Fina offers a variety of programs to celebrate the employee; early employee engagement, years of service, achievement awards, retirement awards, peer-to- peer recognition as well as safety programs for all industries. As brothers and best friends, the two collaborate on all business decisions.
Their motto, “Our goal isn’t to be the biggest, it’s to be the best,” is integrated in everything they do and is captured in the Michael C. Fina company culture. Their ability to find and train the greatest talent enables them to provide the best customer experience and highest quality standards in the reward and recognition industry.
Leveraging an exceptionally talented team has helped Charles and George expand their business. In 2007, they appointed a senior VP for their One Source Total Recognition® solution and a VP of sales. Most recently, they appointed a Chief Operating Officer to manage the day-to-day operations of the company. Adding these leaders to the Fina team enables Charles and George to focus on higher- level strategic business decisions. The knowledge and expertise of these individuals also provides Michael C. Fina with a competitive edge.
Charles and George pioneered the modern employee recognition program with the introduction of the Magic Box® a meaningful gift presentation that offers employees lifestyle gifts as opposed to the traditional company ring or lapel pin. They recognized an unfulfilled need in a stale industry and offered their customers gifts that their employees would truly want and appreciate as well as giving organizations an easy-to-present employee recognition tool that puts the presentation focus on the employee, not the gift or company. As a result, today the Michael C. Fina Magic Box is an industry standard similar to well- known brands like Kleenex and Xerox. This past year, they launched the “Executive Box” in an effort to elevate presentation possibilities for a more tenured senior employee - an enhanced version of the Magic Box
Also in 2007, they released a new version of GiftNET, their gift catalog website that is available in eleven different languages. All of the Michael C. Fina services can easily integrate within a company’s existing HR system so implementation is seamless. Charles and George’s efficient web-based solution works in any business environment and is tailored to meet each customer’s needs. Their advanced online recognition tools are used to implement effective interactive solutions, which have changed the way companies look at recognition programs.
As the industry continues to evolve, Michael C. Fina takes the necessary steps to fill the needs of multinational customers. As visionaries, Charles and George prepared Michael C. Fina with the technology and processes in place and knew how to accommodate clients’ global employee recognition needs. They understood the importance of globalization and that gifts transcend borders and are specific to cultures.
They also realized that customer service should be tailored to particular regions and product fulfillment must be expedited more quickly. With a United Kingdom facility, Michael C. Fina meets the needs of the global corporations. In 2007, Charles and George appointed a global representative, which enables Michael C. Fina to provide flexible solutions for those customers with different cultural values and gift needs. In addition, they launched a Canadian Distribution Center to improve costs and service to Canadian customers and employees.
Through commitment, determination and strategic vision, Charles and George continue to lead the success and expansion of Michael C. Fina as a global business with unprecedented growth.
