Federated Wireless, the pioneer in CBRS shared spectrum technology, delivers Connectivity-as-a-Service – the industry’s first 4G/5G private wireless solution based on CBRS, and offered from the cloud as an end-to-end managed service. With this solution, enterprises have easy access to a low cost, high performance private wireless network to meet their IoT and communication needs. Federated Wireless installs and maintains the network, taking advantage of the latest cloud management and mobile technology to tune the network, while keeping the control where it belongs – in the hands of the enterprise.

Connectivity-as-a-Service

Enterprises demand secure wireless networks that can be trusted with mission-critical tasks. As digital transformation and IoT become business imperatives, 4G and 5G private networks are a must to connect everything from robots, cameras, signage and machinery to augmented and virtual reality.

Federated Wireless Connectivity-as-a-Service is an end-to-end managed service that features:
-Private wireless connectivity for the Enterprise using CBRS shared spectrum
-Carrier-grade quality for mission critical applications
-Cloud-native for simplicity and scale
-Subscription based with a cost effective monthly flat fee
-IoT/enterprise applications available as add-ons
-Purchasing options through AWS and Azure cloud marketplaces

CaaS includes the following network elements:
-Radio access using 4G technologies, with a roadmap to 5G in 2021
-Core network services for control and packet processing
-End-to-end network management via a unified portal
-Service delivery and fulfillment tracking through a single pane of glass
-Spectrum sharing service to allocate and manage spectrum

The launch of CaaS in February 2020 represented an industry first. It is a new type of end-to-end managed service that enables enterprises to buy and deploy private 4G and 5G networks either directly from Federated Wireless or with a single click through the Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure Marketplaces.

Azure Marketplace: https://azuremarketplace.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/apps/federatedwireless1580839623708.fw_caas?tab=Overview

The CaaS core components provide cost effective and IT friendly connectivity to the public Internet, subscription management (SIM handling) and policy management. Enterprise customers are able to define and apply network policies that gives them complete control over their end user devices and IoT sensors.

CaaS includes the industry leading Federated Wireless Spectrum Controller, the only Spectrum Access System that includes nationwide Environmental Sensor Capability for full access to 150 MHz of CBRS spectrum. CaaS is delivered as a cloud subscription service so that enterprises can benefit from an OpEx cost model rather than outlaying capital expenditure for new technology.

CaaS is being deployed today across the vertical enterprise segments that need connectivity most – including manufacturing, warehousing, transportation, utilities, entertainment and retail. Federated Wireless was recently selected by the Department of Defense to deploy CaaS at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia to automate warehouse logistics and create a reference architecture for testing, refining, and validating emerging 5G-enabled technologies for multiple Smart Warehouse applications. https://5g-to-xg.org/10-8-2020/

Enterprises have been seeking better indoor coverage for years. Businesses require secure networks that can be trusted with mission-critical tasks and applications. The problem is that wired networks can be cumbersome and impractical, and Wi-Fi lacks the security, reliability and required bandwidth. At the same time wireless carriers often don’t offer sufficient indoor coverage and can be expensive. A comprehensive network solution must be predictably fast, secure, flexible, cost effective, and reliable.

The best part about this new service is that enterprises can benefit from accelerated private wireless network deployment with high-speed 4G/5G connectivity and strong security at minimum risk and capital expenditure. Federated Wireless takes care of the installation, operation and management, delivering high performance, reliable connectivity. No more complexity, no large number of components and vendors, no complicated integration processes with other networks and no big outlay for hardware and other equipment.

Federated Wireless is in the business of removing friction from private wireless deployments.CaaS is just the latest example.
