The Stevie® Awards to Be Announced June 12 in New York
New York, NY – June 6, 2006 – Five outstanding organizations and individuals will be the recipients of honorary Stevie Awards at this year’s American Business Awards.
Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word “crowned,” the awards will be presented on Monday, June 12 during a gala ceremony in the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York. Ali Velshi, business news anchor on CNN, will host the awards ceremony, which will be videocast live at www.stevieawards.com/aba. Tickets for the gala are also available at the web site.
The American Business Awards are the only national, all-encompassing business awards program honoring great performances in the workplace.
Honorary Stevie Award recipients are chosen by The Stevie Awards and select sponsors. The 2006 honorees include:
• Charles Rooney, VP and Chief Human Resources Officer at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, will receive the 2006 RealLife HR Award for Human Resources Innovation. Rooney’s leadership and skillful application of technology has improved the effectiveness of managers throughout Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, where children have been cared for, and cured, for more than 100 years. • MENTOR (www.mentoring.org) will receive the 2006 Stevie Award for Outstanding Community Service. MENTOR is leading the national movement to expand the world of quality mentoring. His namesake company was founded in 1956 as "Salesbag Promotions" in Buffalo, NY by Henry and his wife Thelma.
