The Eaton Corporation 2002 Annual Report

Objectives:

1)  Produce Eaton Corporation’s 2002 Annual Report on time, on budget, error free
and in accordance with the legal requirements for financial reporting;

2)  Elevate our audience’s understanding of Eaton’s strategic direction and
financial performance;

3)  Build the Eaton brand internally/externally in conjunction with the company’s
corporate identity program;

4)  Position Eaton in a fresh, memorable and non-traditional way.


Results:

Eaton’s 2002 Annual Report was completed nearly two weeks ahead of schedule. 
The production costs came in under budget, and the book was published free of
errors and in accordance with the legal requirements for financial reporting.

Data from a formal online survey we launched simultaneous to the release of the
annual report show the creative approach is working:  Nearly 75% agreed that
the “Not business as usual” theme compelled them to read more of the
publication.  Approximately 88% agreed that the annual report content was
interesting and useful.  Approximately 83% said the report helped build their
awareness of the Eaton brand, and 82% of respondents said the annual report
improved their understanding of Eaton Corporation as a diversified industrial
enterprise.
