Xperi’s internal communications team sought to redesign and relaunch its employee intranet. The company’s previous intranet was built on SharePoint, a platform that proved inadequate in addressing the needs of the employees. An employee survey conducted in June 2022 revealed difficulties in finding and accessing critical information, low engagement levels (22% rarely/never visited the intranet; 29% visited once per month; 28% visited once per week), poor search capabilities, and lack of integration with other employee tools.
To address these issues, the new intranet, named Xchange, was created as a hub where employees could easily learn about Xperi, understand the importance of their roles, access necessary policies and procedures, identify key contacts within the organization, and utilize tools and resources seamlessly.
The project was centered around three key pillars: usability, integration and engagement.
Usability: To create an intranet that was not only visually appealing but also intuitive and easy to navigate, we partnered with intranet software provider LumApps. The platform was designed to include targeted news, personalized content and quick links to key resources — all accessible from a centralized homepage.
Integration: The new intranet featured 29 direct integrations with employee tools without having to open the single sign-on dashboard.
Engagement: We created spaces for employee resource groups and office locations, a Product Hub with detailed information about the company’s products, and a Policy Hub that consolidated all company policies into one accessible location.
Xperi's internal communications team collaborated with the marketing creative team to develop the intranet’s visual design and branding and site navigation. We also established site governance policies to maintain content accuracy and relevance over time.
Xperi developed more than 25 pieces of content creator training materials, which were housed in a dedicated section of the site called "Xchange 101." The final step involved the creation of the Xchange Challenge — a scavenger hunt-style training designed to guide employees’ initial exploration of the new platform.
The new site launched in June 2024. Access was provided to all employees and contractors with information filtered to tailored interests, work locations and support areas.
As of December 31, 2024, metrics for the new Xchange are as follows:
- 95% of employees have visited Xchange at least once

According to the October 2024 internal communications survey, satisfaction with the new intranet has increased, with 62% of employees agreeing that it is easier to navigate compared to the old SharePoint version. 76% of respondents usually/always find what they are looking for on Xchange. 62% agree that they can easily find the information they are looking for on Xchange in 2024, up from 52% in 2023 and 38% in 2022.
