Created as an homage to Saturday morning cartoons, Gear Squad mixes a “good versus evil” plotline with content for marketers to inspire them to defeat their own boring campaigns. When the humans leave at the end of the workday, the animated Gear Squad springs to life to experiment with creative campaigns. Through the five episodes, viewers are taken through scenarios where the characters (like a confident camera and an evil watercooler) come to life and battle over the fate of marketing campaigns. The idea for the production originated from Wistia’s love for creative storytelling and was shaped by the reality of Wistia’s production plans shifting during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The objective of the series is to inspire B2B marketers to embrace a human-centered approach to their marketing strategy and help marketers understand how to produce engaging digital content. The series was created in hopes of giving B2B marketers permission to be creative and not fall victim to boring content that can often be associated with B2B brands. Since the launch of Gear Squad, the series has had over 7,400 total plays and about 20,500 unique visitors to its landing page.
