Since Jan. 2023, Eugene U. Sayan, founder and CEO of Softheon, has spearheaded transformative initiatives at Softheon and subsidiaries W3LL and Citiz3n, advancing operational and financial excellence.

Under his leadership, the company launched a comprehensive Learning Management System — LMS — to centralize employee training and facilitate skill development in compliance, technical competencies, and leadership. The LMS — with customized content overseen by Softheon’s dedicated training team — upskilled employees and aligned training with Softheon’s overarching operational goals. The LMS content was complemented by free LinkedIn learning courses for all employees. Additionally, Eugene introduced company-wide OKRs and certification training, fostering a culture of accountability and results-driven performance. Finally, Eugene established a new and generous external certification and professional development benefit, offering employees rich options for continuous learning in their areas of expertise.

Eugene expanded long-term incentive programs to enhance retention, including discretionary bonuses and stock options, while fostering a diverse and inclusive culture with a 40% female workforce. His efforts reduced regrettable attrition by 25%. Regrettable retention rates now exceed FAANG metrics, solidifying Softheon’s position as a desirable employer. While FAANG has largely moved to a return-to-office model, Softheon remains a 100% remote workplace.

In addition, Eugene expanded employee retirement benefits, generously enhanced the organization’s parental leave policy, and offered free vision benefits. With his support, Softheon launched new mentor programs and EmpowerHer, a resource group for women working in the male-dominated software and technology field. Eugene encouraged Softheon’s first-ever career development showcase, emphasizing retention and interdepartmental movement. The event garnered 80% participation. Eugene also established the Softheon Strategic Business Review, a forum where leaders share innovations as HEROs – Highly Empowered Relevant Operatives.

Eugene is currently leading a multi-year planning, design, development, and commercialization of a business- and software-as-a-service platform with supervised AI & ML algorithms for health care exchange shopping, enrollment, premium billing, payment, and member experience management. This year, the company has introduced new automation to simplify billing and reconciliation, ensuring health plans can operate at their best while improving member experiences.

Beyond operational and financial successes, Eugene has made substantial contributions to the industry at large. As President-Elect of the HRA Council, he champions affordable health insurance access through private and public marketplaces, emphasizing the potential of Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements — ICHRAs. Additionally, his active participation on advisory boards, including the Center for Dynamic Data Analytics and the Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology at Stony Brook University, allowed him to drive advancements in big data and healthcare IT, contributing to national discussions on healthcare reform and technology-driven healthcare improvements. Through these roles, Eugene has directly impacted policy and industry progress, leading the way to improved patient care.

Eugene’s achievements reflect his unwavering dedication to operational excellence, employee development, and industry advocacy. His ability to envision possibilities, develop strategic plans, and inspire action has not only transformed Softheon but also contributed to the broader healthcare landscape. By prioritizing employee growth, operational efficiency, and technological advancements, Eugene continues to set a benchmark for entrepreneurial excellence in the health products and services sector. His accomplishments underscore his vision of leveraging technology to create meaningful, scalable solutions that improve lives and drive progress.
