Nomination Title: Bardia Moshrefnoory, Lead Developer and SSD Champion

Tell the story about what this nominee achieved since January 1 2012 (up to 525 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:

When Bardia Moshrefnoory was searching for a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) product to integrate with Roth Staffing Companies’ Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software named StaffSuite, he couldn’t find a product that would be easy to use, meet our coworkers’ needs, and improve efficiencies.  Many existing products would not integrate with StaffSuite, which is a closed, full front and back-office system.  In the end, he and the MIS team decided to write their own system, an ambitious project that would span nearly all of 2012.

In less than one year, Bardia developed a web-based CRM over a closed ERP, which is something that others thought to be impossible.  Because StaffSuite is a closed system, there is no traditional web service or API to communicate with.  Instead, Bardia had to learn to use client DLLs to talk to the encrypted application server.  He also had to learn new technologies such as Google’s Calendar, Authentication, and Email APIs.

Bardia’s accomplishments are even more amazing because the SSD is easily updateable and has minimal bugs since Bardia and the MIS team use test-driven development methodologies and tools.  Most importantly, the SSD is easy and efficient for coworkers to use!  Bardia understood that coworkers needed a system that would encompass and streamline all of their daily duties, so he integrated forums, help desk functions, reporting, task list management, process automation, single sign-on, sales force automation, the ability to automatically update or generate calendar items from notes, and much more.  Overall, the SSD became an extension of our ERP, which means that coworkers can update changes live within the ERP, spending only a minute or less on tasks that used to take five or ten minutes!  In the first several months of use, it quickly became our most important and most widely utilized software.  The SSD has saved the company a significant amount of money by drastically improving coworker and management efficiency.

However, the process was not easy.  Bardia faced several challenges when creating the SSD, most notably the size and experience level of the MIS team.  As the Lead Developer in a team of three programmers (two of which have less than two and a half years of combined work experience), Bardia wears multiple hats; he is the group mentor and leader, he is a developer, and he is a Business Analyst who bridges the gap between the project management and development teams.  While developing the SSD, Bardia honed his development and leadership skills in order to simplify project concepts for his programmers.  They formed innovative solutions to address the SSD’s technical challenges and demands while writing and maintaining over 65 other company applications. These include our award-winning VideoSelect technology, Expedite Timecard system, customer and coworker Extranets, and our E-Verify and tax filing integrations.

The SSD was the company’s most complex development project to date and there was no way Roth Staffing would have been able to accomplish it without Bardia’s leadership, ability to break larger projects into weekly goals, and talent as Lead Developer.  Perhaps the greatest indicator of his success is coworker requests for even more SSD functions in the future!
