The Expedite Timecard system was developed by Galen Taylor as a result of Roth
Staffing's need to fulfill a promise to a customer. After extensively searching
for an existing web-based timecard solution that incorporated the automatic
calculation of time, including the processing of overtime regulations for every
state, along with other criteria such as approval processes, out-of-office
handling and pay/bill differentials turned up empty, Galen decided we could
build our own and introduce a new electronic timecard to the industry.
 
Along the way, Galen experienced many obstacles, most of them driven by
governmental and legal requirements and regulations; which is why no other
system has the capabilities of Expedite Timecard. Galen's creativity and
experience in developing .NET applications coupled with the research skills of
the Roth Staffing Project Development Team and Legal Department, enabled Galen
to overcome every hurdle.
 
Today, Expedite Timecard incorporates several innovative features beyond just
calculating overtime rules. One of the features most appreciated by our
customers is the integration of the approval process with email, greatly
reducing the customer's approval load. Hiring managers simply receive an email
with the timecard, click approve or decline and never have to log in to a
customer extranet. The system can also handle unique holiday schedules for each
of our business customers and it knows whether or not those holidays have an
overtime requirement for each state. It allows our coworkers in our branch
offices to manage each business customer's requirements, allows for exception
handling for situations where there are differences between what we pay our
temporary employee and what we bill the customer and it even integrates with
our ERP to import the time to eliminate double keying.
 
Expedite Timecard has reduced our already low error rate even further,
increasing our overall payroll accuracy. It has helped us win some business as
well and we have even had customers request that we put all of their employees
on the system, not just the employees we provided to them as their staffing
vendor.

Galen Taylor graduated from college with an English degree, but was passionate
about computers and programming. So, he went back to school and eventually
earned a Masters degree in Computer Science. His education did not stop there,
Galen commits to learning a new programming language or framework every year.
Prior to joining Roth Staffing, Galen had already embraced the Scrum
development process. As a champion of the process, Galen has forever changed
the way Roth Staffing develops software. Through his efforts as Lead Developer,
Roth Staffing was able to release more programs in the first 6 months of his
employment than in the entire 2 years before he arrived. His mentorship of
other developers is what makes him truly special. His efforts have not only
raised the level of knowledge of other people within Roth Staffing, but he has
enhanced the lives of everyone he touches.
