In an increasingly distributed world, digital connection has emerged as a necessity. From remote work to new eCommerce conveniences, consumers are increasingly relying on (and expecting) a seamless software experience. In order to handle the increased influx of new data sources coming online and requests, organizations are adopting an application programming interface (API)  approach to accelerate their application development process and ability to respond to consumer demands.

Red Hat OpenShift API Management provides modular, lightweight, API-first comprehensive solutions that are open source, built on open standards, and available on-premise or in the cloud.  Developers can deploy, monitor, and control APIs, gain insight into the health and use of APIs, discover and share APIs by publishing to internal or external developer portals, and create policies that govern usage to maintain security.

Red Hat OpenShift API Management is delivered as an add-on for OpenShift Dedicated and Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS. Red Hat hosts and manages these services, so teams can focus on application development and modernization. The result is efficiently-delivered strategic applications combined with provisioning, policy, and more security facilities in the same cloud-native pipeline.

Key features of Red Hat OpenShift API Management include:

    • API Manager: Restricts traffic by policy, protects back-end services, imposes rate limits, and creates access tiers to manage and control flow.
    • API Gateway: Developers can efficiently reuse existing assets by connecting to an API. The interface to all APIs is consistent, and the traffic, security, and policy enforcement are monitored and managed at the API level.
    • Red Hat OpenShift: With a foundation in Kubernetes and an implementation base in Red Hat technologies, Red Hat OpenShift is a platform that lets you extend your containerized applications beyond a single cloud to on-premise and multi-cloud environments.
    • Single sign-on: Developers can enhance security authorization to APIs and the developer portal by leveraging Red Hat’s single sign-on functionality.
    • Red Hat OpenShift Service Registry: Development teams can publish, discover, and reuse APIs and schemas in a centralized service registry, avoiding duplication, compatibility errors, and integration challenges.
    • API Designer: Design, build, and create APIs and schemas for API-first applications without any code.
  5. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this third question: Outline the market performance, critical reception, and customer satisfaction with the product or service to date. State monetary or unit sales figures to date, if possible, and how they compare to expectations or past performance. Provide links to laudatory product or service reviews. Include some customer testimonials, if applicable (up to 350 words):

Organizations are faced with the challenge of rapidly delivering new experiences for their customers to remain competitive. But, they have to ensure their new applications are integrated correctly with their legacy systems while implementing API security in a way that’s proactive, flexible, and consistent.

For example, German healthcare provider BITMARCK, implemented Red Hat OpenShift API Management, run partly on OpenShift Dedicated on Amazon Web Services, to deliver application connectivity without having to invest in new operational resources, enabling the company to scale, deliver, and manage new application experiences to customers quickly, while tailoring and branding its healthcare app to a provider’s specifications. OpenShift API Management offers scalable and repeatable integrations, which when paired with Red Hat Integration, enabled BITMARCK to work with a variety of clients in the public cloud. It also let them connect on-premises systems to customer-facing apps while still enabling data security and regulatory compliance.

Another customer, the electrical training ALLIANCE (ETA) implemented Red Hat OpenShift API Management to modernize its IT architecture to create an online application that could track trainees’ progress, while rapidly adjusting and scaling with traffic. This provided a smoother experience for training centers and trainees with easy curriculum tracking, accessibility to services, and accelerated performance. Now ETA can get new training options up and running on their application rapidly. Additionally, the upgrade has enabled simpler operational processes for internal personnel and training centers, resulting in the improved accuracy and organization of the electrical professional trainees’ data and upgraded reporting. According to ETA, “Partnering with Red Hat has revolutionized ETA’s ability to provide quality training and education management for the next generation of electricians and overhauled our digital transformation journey as a whole. As a small team, the support we receive through the managed service of Red Hat OpenShift API Management has allowed us to focus more on making positive contributions to the business and providing our customers with the best experience possible.”
