  3. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this first question: Briefly describe the nominated organization: its history and past performance (up to 200 words):

    Total 145 words used.

Prior to 2021, OnBoard operated as a bootstrapped, self-funded organization for nearly two decades. Founded as Passageways in 2003 in a Purdue University dorm room, the company’s first product, OnSemble, an employee intranet collaboration platform found success quickly, creating a steady rate of profitable and self-funded growth. When customers asked for a similar solution for board meetings, the company launched OnBoard in 2011, which delivered even greater success in product-market fit and customer satisfaction.
For OnBoard, like every organization, 2021 represented a tremendous continuing headwind due to the ongoing pandemic. But despite the challenges, OnBoard thrived, grew, and scaled like never before.
OnBoard’s tremendously successful growth at scale, its notable accomplishments throughout 2021, and its continued positive impact in its respective communities – including central Indiana – are all strong reasons for OnBoard to be named the ABA Stevie Awards' Company of the Year honoree.

  4. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this second question: Outline the organization's achievements since the beginning of 2020 that you wish to bring to the judges' attention (up to 250 words):

    Total 230 words used.

OnBoard’s first notable accomplishment in 2021 was a strategic repositioning of its brand, redefining OnBoard as the primary brand. Previously, OnBoard remained a product-oriented brand under the Passageways parent-company umbrella.
Shortly after the brand launch, OnBoard acquired revenue growth leader Kevin Donovan as its first Chief Revenue Officer. Donovan joined co-founder and CEO Paroon Chadha and CMO Rob Kunzler (a late 2020 executive leadership acquisition) in the C-Suite.
In June 2021, OnBoard secured a $100 million investment from private equity group JMI Equity, a leader in enterprise software growth. This investment, one of the largest in the Indiana tech community’s history, made it possible for OnBoard to take the organization to new levels of non-linear growth. JMI’s due diligence revealed a key reason for its bet on OnBoard in particular: A track record of continual success, solid financial fundamentals, and a growth plan designed and executed around long-term success.
JMI’s investment hypothesis described another factor to OnBoard’s success: as the leader in a category described as “one of the few horizontal software product plays.” Board management solutions have a large total addressable market, as board-led organizations exist across geographies and industries.
A month after announcing the JMI investment, OnBoard acquired a
Toronto-based public meeting software maker, eScribe. This acquisition expanded OnBoard’s product line to including public meeting software and offers new growth opportunities for continued revenue expansion into Canada.

  5. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this third question: Explain why the achievements you have highlighted are unique or significant. If possible compare the achievements to the performance of other players in your industry and/or to the organization's past performance (up to 250 words):

    Total 197 words used.

OnBoard is also proud to have an NPS of 79 among business decision-maker users (directors and administrators, nearly double that of the next-closest legacy provider. OnBoard also enjoys 10 times the number of app reviews in the iTunes App Store, and the highest rating among all iTunes board management apps available.
