Newberry increased its production output by outfitting its new manufacturing facility to full capacity, doubling the number of functioning work cells. The added welders and support staff allowed them to move 139% more tanks out the door. The increased supply combined with Newberry’s reputation of exceptional on-time delivery attracted a national big box chain with a major backlog to sign on for $1 million in early 2024. Newberry caught up with the backlog so quickly they’ve secured themselves as the future supplier for this national chain.
The company also expanded its Preferred Customer Program (PCP) - which predicts customer needs based on purchasing history and regularly stocks tanks. In the last two years the program exploded from 252 tanks to 435 and customers skyrocketed 140%, with growth from the newest members not yet realized.
Recent investments in innovative technology also drove success. Newberry implemented a CRM platform to track quality issues and installed a new paint booth. Newberry sets itself apart by offering a holistic and strategic approach to provide turnkey solutions for its customers. Its successful PCP program, convenience as a “one-stop-shop,” responsiveness to individual needs and proven on-time delivery make it unique in the industry. A new client signed on when another supplier couldn’t fill its needs and Newberry did. Upon landing a large national auto tire and lube service provider that suggested adding air compressors and air dryers to the products supplied, Newberry jumped to fill the request. Newberry recognized the compressor as a lifeline that powers much of the equipment they supply and according to VP of Sales, “realized any customers would benefit.” They now offer the products to all customers and added them to their “kitting” program, which packages necessary components with the tank, simplifying distribution and reducing customer costs. The new client was so thrilled with Newberry’s quick response it signed on for the entire kitting program, increasing sales by more than 900% in the last year with a plan to more than triple that in 2025. Newberry’s VP of Sales calls it “helping clients get a complete solution.”
Newberry also excels by focusing on its community, annually supporting the nonprofit Stax Music Academy which nurtures student musicians and connects the folks at Newberry to their own history where music legends BB King and Bukka White once worked as Newberry welders. In 2023 Newberry welcomed Stax students to its facility to work on a joint project.
