    Dr. Dean Bartles is a highly experienced operation professional with four decades of management experience in manufacturing and technology. He has worked for General Dynamics Corporation for 30 years and was responsible for setting up and running manufacturing operations in Egypt, Turkey, and other countries. Dr. Bartles is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Manufacturing Technology Deployment Group, a not-for-profit holding company of the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining and the Advanced Manufacturing Enterprise.

    Dr. Bartles has been recognized by "World's Leaders" as a global expert in the field of manufacturing innovation due to his extensive knowledge of advanced manufacturing technologies such as Smart Manufacturing, Industrial Internet of Things, Operational Technology Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence in manufacturing technology, etc. He is also an active member of several organizations, such as the National Defense Industrial Association, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, etc., where he serves on various committees related to defense manufacturing and machining.

    Dr. Bartles is committed to promoting the interests of small businesses through MTDG Inc., which provides consulting, training, research & development support, product design & development support, and prototyping & testing services.

    In March 2021, Dr. Bartles was appointed as a consultant to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. This role allows him to bring his wealth of knowledge and skills to the organization and help it become a thought leader in the manufacturing industry.

    In April 2021, Dr. Bartles was elected as a division leader for the National Defense Industrial Association. As part of this role, he serves as the Founding Chairman of the Smart Manufacturing Leadership Council and works to promote innovation in manufacturing across the globe.

    In June 2021, Dr. Bartles joined the board of governors for the Manufacturing Leadership Council. His appointment brings German Industry 4.0 expertise to MLC and helps them further their mission of creating an environment where manufacturers can share ideas and collaborate on projects that will benefit their businesses and customers alike.

    Finally, in August 2021, Dr. Bartles was named President and Chief Executive Officer at NCDMM (National Center for Defense Manufacturing & Machining). In this position, he is responsible for leading all operations including research & development initiatives, business development activities, strategic planning efforts, customer service initiatives, and more.

He has become an integral part of both the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) over this time period, and he continues to provide valuable insight into how these organizations can better serve their customers’ needs. When compared to the performance of other players in Dr. Bartles' industry, his achievements stand out for their impact and scope. His appointment to ASME, for example, was an important milestone that allowed him to bring his engineering expertise to a larger audience. Similarly, his role as Founding Chairman for NDIA's Smart Manufacturing Leadership Council is one of many initiatives that he has been involved with that seeks to promote innovation in manufacturing practices worldwide. In comparison to Dr. Bartles' past performance, these new achievements highlight his ability to stay ahead of the curve and remain a leader in thought leadership within the field of manufacturing and technology.
