The Kenneth Rainin Foundation believes in taking smart risks to achieve breakthroughs. We created the Breakthrough Moments video series in 2017 to highlight the groundbreaking work of our grantees. In 2024 we launched a Breakthrough Moments video featuring G-Tech Medical whose steady progress was catalyzed by early funding from our Health Program. With a personal mission and patients-first focus at the forefront, G-Tech Medical created a patch that travels with patients to monitor gastrointestinal motility as they experience life and their symptoms. This device could transform how patients and clinicians alike manage Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

Our objectives with this video were to 1) elevate the work of our grantee and solidify their standing in the field, 2) communicate our funding priorities and 3) tell a compelling visual story. We were pleased that this video received 34k views, including 30k ThruPlays via Meta advertising. This is a 1,665% increase in viewership from 2017 and a 183% increase from 2019. Beyond the metrics, we look forward to utilizing this high quality video to clarify the type of research we fund through our Health Program and elevate the incredible work of our grantees to improve the lives of people with IBD.
