Nomination Title: Hilton Grand Vacations

Hilton Grand Vacations (HGV) is recognized as a leading global timeshare company. With headquarters in Orlando, Florida, Hilton Grand Vacations develops, markets and operates a system of brand-name, high-quality vacation ownership resorts in select vacation destinations.

The company also manages and operates two best-in-class membership programs, providing exclusive services for more than 325,000 Club Members around the world. These points-based reservations and exchange programs offer Club Members maximum flexibility and travel options. Privileges include automatic membership at a higher tier in the award-winning Hilton Honors™ guest loyalty program and the ability to convert their ClubPoints to Hilton Honors Points for stays at more than 6,300 hotels and resorts within the Hilton portfolio of brands. Members also enjoy vacation exchange options at more than 4,200 resorts globally through RCI®.

Following a spin-off from Hilton Worldwide, HGV has operated as an independent, public company since 2017, and has celebrated more than 25 years of providing lasting vacation memories for its owners and guests.

HGV’s Vision: Inspiring people to go further and share more.

HGV’s Mission: By putting people first, we will ensure Team Members become family, guests become Owners, and Owners become the heart of everything we do.

In 2019-20, HGV has been recognized by numerous organizations and publications as shown in the supporting materials.

In 2019, HGV invested an additional $5 million in medical benefits to keep healthcare as affordable as possible for team members. It also launched one of the most comprehensive parental leave programs in the country, permitting 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all eligible U.S. team members after 90 days of employment. This applies to birth and adoptive mothers and fathers.

HGV also expanded its adoption incentive program in 2019 and in the last two years it ranked as a top 100 company on Dave Thomas Foundation’s “Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces” list. HGV offers an adoption assistance benefit of up to $10,000 per child to help offset the cost of adoption.

HGV Serves, the company’s CSR platform, launched in 2019 and the company kicked off a partnership with Clean the World to implement a soap recycling program across HGV resorts nationwide.

In 2020, HGV fulfilled its commitment to eliminate single-use straws from its 34 branded properties as part of its continued effort to reduce its overall environmental footprint.

As a part of HGV’s diversity and inclusion program, Team Member Resources Groups contribute to various efforts throughout their communities.

Lastly, in response to COVID-19, HGV rolled out Enhanced Care Guidelines incorporated the Hilton CleanStay program to include best practices and protocols as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and cleaning solutions approved by the Environmental Protection Agency.

To further expand on HGV’s corporate response to COVID-19, it’s important to understand that the timeshare company was the first company in the hotel/resort industry to be publicly connected to a positive case of COVID-19. On Feb. 14, 2020, the Governor of Hawaii announced that a visitor who recently stayed at an HGV property in Hawaii, flew home to Japan where he tested positive for the virus.

Immediately following the press conference, HGV activated its Crisis Team, an in-house cross functional team of experts that work diligently to support and mitigate any issues and provide strategic crisis management 24/7. The team, which consists of leaders from legal, risk management, corporate communications, social media and team member relations, quickly took an all-hands-on-deck approach, relying heavily on their strong relationships across all departments.

Within hours, the team drafted media statements, talking points and letters to use on-site in Hawaii, drafted talking points and FAQs for Hawaii-based team members, provided email updates for leader awareness across the company, and notified the leaders of the Executive Committee.

Within days, the Crisis Team continued to evolve its media statements and, due to its quick and comprehensive responses, received neutral coverage in major media outlets, including USA Today.

HGV’s Crisis Team continues to work on COVID-19 related issues, including the temporary suspension of operations in key destinations, re-opening of properties, and continuous updates to owners, guests and employees. HGV leads the industry in communicating COVID-19 government mandates, resort openings/closures and enhanced protocols.
