Known for groundbreaking franchises, Forbes unveiled the 50 Over 50 list in 2021 in partnership with Mika Brzezinski and her "Know Your Value" movement. The inaugural list honored 50 distinguished women who've achieved success later in life and continue to pave a new way forward for female leaders of every generation. Forbes wanted to celebrate and bring together this powerful group of women in a powerful way—and they wanted to do it in person.
With AARP as the presenting sponsor, Forbes convened list honorees, business executives, culture leaders and more to unlock new thinking and expand perspectives. The exclusive event took place at Forbes on Fifth, Forbes' newly renovated event space, in December 2021, while bringing together the world's most influential women under one roof. The monumental daytime event all culminated with an inspirational conversation between MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski and the First Lady of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden.
Coverage of 50 Over 50 altogether garnered 1.56 billion impressions, and Forbes used the accumulated impact and the in-person celebration to announce a new event: the 30/50 summit—a three-day event that would bring together list makers from both the 30 Under 30 and 50 Over 50 lists for the very first time. From gorgeous branding to groundbreaking conversations, Forbes, together with AARP, successfully threw a celebration for the history books—for the women making history. And it was only the beginning.
