Nomination Title: KODAK Scan Station 100: The Power of Document Imaging at Your Fingertips

1. Tell the story about this nominated product or service (up to 500 words). Describe its function, features, benefits, and sales to date. You may include hyperlinks to product photos and data sheets. IMPORTANT: Begin each link with http://, and enclose each link in square brackets; for example, [http://www.youraddress.com]:

A long-time leader in production scanning, Eastman Kodak Company’s document
imaging business focused much energy during the past few years on developing a
strong, innovative and appealing distributed capture portfolio. The KODAK Scan
Station 100 was the first in a series of products launched during 2006 that
underscore Kodak’s commitment to be a leader in the distributed capture market.

Kodak has provided document imaging solutions to companies—especially banks and
financial services firms—for nearly 80 years, the last 17 years as a digital
innovator in document capture. The Scan Station 100 represents the latest
evolution of Kodak’s document imaging innovation on the desktop. This multi-
purpose walkup device enables office staff to easily and quickly turn paper
documents into digital files.

The Scan Station 100’s relatively small footprint packs a variety of commanding
features to empower businesses of all sizes to take charge of their document
imaging needs. Some of these powerful, innovative features are:
• The touch of a button shares digital files via email, routes them to
network folders, or sends them to networked printers or copiers.
• Built-in USB portable drive connectivity for image storage and user
configuration profiles.
• A special document feeder for front-feed, front return of items such
as “thick cards” like driver’s licenses.

While there are a variety of multi-function printer (MFP) options on the market—
some as much as four times the price—the KODAK Scan Station 100 doesn’t fall
into this category. There are a handful of competing products that do not
compare to the KODAK Scan Station 100 in either ease of use through a color
touch screen that provides image preview or in Kodak hallmarks of superb paper
handling, and high image and color quality.

Easy installation means quick set-up. Ease-of-use not only helps users save
time and effort—increasing productivity—but does not require additional
software or special training to operate. The combined effect: dramatically
limiting IT staff’s involvement to get up and running.

Many devices that combine copiers, printers, and scanners score poor marks when it comes to image quality. Scan Station 100 challenges all other devices in terms of image quality, paper handling and ease of use through a color touch screen that also provides image preview of scanned images prior to sharing. And because the Scan Station 100 does not require an associated PC and software, the up-front costs are minimal and consumables costs are low.

During its trade show debut in March 2006, the Scan Station 100 captured Best of Show honors in the Government Computer News Best of FOSE Awards at the technology tradeshow that serves the government marketplace. Additionally, the Scan Station was named a 2006 Better Buys for Business Editor’s Choice and was recently named a finalist in Small Business Technology Magazine’s 2006 Product of the Year competition.

The Scan Station 100 is still evolving and bolstering its capabilities. Kodak
continues to work with a variety of Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to make
the Scan Station compatible with their products and applications including
Docuware, Docstar, NSI, and DocuLex.
