The award-winning cloud solutions experts at Denny Cherry and Associates Consulting (DCAC) assist companies with architectural design, migrations, business intelligence, performance tuning and cybersecurity. With more than 80% of consultants named as Microsoft MVPs (an elite group of technical experts) and VMware experts, the company’s expertise has supported growth rates that have put them on the Inc. 5000 List for America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies for three straight years, with 2021 destined to land them a fourth consecutive ranking due to 105% YOY growth,
DCAC’s value proposition for clients is alluring in its simplicity: due to their expertise, they can deliver the solution more efficiently and reliably while utilizing fewer resources than the competition, and the job will be done correctly the first time, on time, and on -- if not under -- budget. As a matter of courtesy, DCAC experts routinely note ways the client can save money on both licensing and storage, and train in-house staff how to utilize new architecture or conduct best practices.
For staff, DCAC offers a flattened hierarchy, unlimited PTO, a SAS-inspired benefits package for all employees and their families, and a warm, collegial environment with a 100% retention rate.
- If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this second question: Outline the organization's achievements since the beginning of 2020 that you wish to bring to the judges' attention (up to 250 words):
Total 248 words used.
Highlights include:
- Designing first-ever Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) customer portal for the real estate industry, enabling customers to query, view, predict market behavior, and purchase the anonymized data of other customers, akin to Amazon’s Customer Preferences.
- Performance-tuning a Fortune 50 company by 500%.
- Performing migrations for two large enterprise businesses, each with multiple terabytes of data, that collectively resulted in only 6 seconds of downtime.
- Modeling a client’s glitch for six hours to identify a previously unknown Microsoft bug and rectifying it before Microsoft did.
- Performance-tuning an insurance broker’s environment, reducing CPU load from 40% to 6%.
But the most harrowing feat involved a mortgage lender for whom DCAC was hired to reverse engineer a database. Late one Friday night, one of the client’s IT staff attempted a massive delete statement without running a test. Due to the company’s fragile replication, the server locked, leaving the lender out of AICPA SOC 2 compliance with every client and at risk of ruin. In desperation, they called Joey at DCAC. Identifying the error was easy; fixing it was not. All 14 TBs of the company’s data would have to be restored before the weekend was over. He called DCAC colleagues John and Denny and got to work. The team worked in pairs for 40 straight hours, allowing each a quick rest on their time zone.
DCAC’s new sales director meanwhile quadrupled Cloud Service Provider and Emergency Response sales, ensuring RMR to protect every salary at the company. Sales increased 105% over 2020.
- If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this third question: Explain why the achievements you have highlighted are unique or significant. If possible compare the achievements to the performance of other players in your industry and/or to the organization's past performance (up to 250 words):

The most astonishing fact of all these achievements is that only the desperate 40-hour marathon required three consultants – the rest were conducted by a maximum of two. DCAC lives up to its reputation - providing the best service in the industry for the minimum number of resources. They can realize any CIO’s Big Data dreams, like they did with the DaaS portal – which was designed by a lone consultant in a weekend,
The significance of DCAC’s impact goes far beyond sheer talent. Their mastery of IT engineering and deep sense of responsibility enables us all. DCAC has a greater understanding than most how precarious our relatively new and fragile IT-based economy is. Every production failure threatens to ripple into vast unintended consequences that we feel within days, like when hackers ransom-wared an oil pipeline,
Every DCAC consultant realizes that when production fails, companies go under and jobs are lost, but there are also a host of innocent bystanders that are impacted. The mortgage lender is a prime example: it wasn’t just a client, employer of 500 people, in jeopardy, there was also the ripple effect for the industry – companies would be out of compliance with their customers, and end-users, people precariously waiting on a mortgage and a home. It’s the reason DCAC consultants get out of bed at 3 a.m. on a Friday night and restore 14 terabytes of for 40 straight hours, and do so again the following weekend, or whenever the next mishap occurs.
- You have the option to answer this final question: Reference any attachments of supporting materials throughout this nomination and how they provide evidence of the claims you have made in this nomination (up to 250 words):
