Dean is President & CEO of Delta Dental of Kansas and its subsidiary Surency Life & Health. The organization offers a suite of health products and insurance services in more than 30 states nationwide. Dean has a successful track record of innovation, including introducing new products and services, transforming our culture, creating innovative marketing campaigns, enhancing technology to improve operations and services and new and innovative sales strategies.
The results of his innovative efforts have shown. Dean was named one of the Top 10 Most Influential Insurance Executives in the United States as well as an Executive of the Year by the Business Journal. Our company was named National Company of the Year for insurance, Most Innovative Company of the Year in the United States (under 2,500 employees) and Management Team of the Year. These awards, and many others our company has received, are a direct result of innovations he has initiated and implemented.
Under his leadership, Dean launched new and simplified products and services, negotiated strategic partnerships, opened new territories and revamped sales strategies leading to 30% sales growth for our subsidiary. He also successfully expanded the company into 34 states.
Dean implemented the Voice of the Customer and Predictive Analytics initiatives to drive product and service innovation, resulting in 99.5% retention and 98.8% customer satisfaction. We also received the National Voice of the Customer Award for innovations implemented to help consumers and providers based on feedback Dean received from a year-long listening tour he conducted with our key stakeholders. Dean revamped the strategy and organization, modernizing technology, introducing new digital solutions and transforming operations. His innovations resulted in national and local recognition in many areas, including our enhanced call center being named in the top 10% of call centers nationwide.
Dean also created an in-house Innovation Lab to bring products to market, enhance technology, data analytics, risk management and improve the user experience. Our AM Best “Excellent” rating highlighted the “efficiencies and innovation” implemented under Dean’s leadership.
He worked to enhance our marketing efforts resulting in our marketing team being named National Marketing Team of the Year and their marketing campaign being named National Thought Leadership Campaign of the Year for insurance.
Dean also transformed our company’s focus on the health and wellness of our employees. He implemented flexible and remote work options, wellness programs, fitness and wellness challenges, health screenings, financial education, employee assistance and many other programs. We were named the Top Healthiest Employer by the Business Journal and the Top 100 Healthiest Workplaces in America for three years in a row.
Perhaps his greatest innovations have happened in the area of employee engagement. Dean has implemented many innovations to enhance culture that has led to employee satisfaction scores more than double the national average. We have been named both National and Local Best Places to Work for his innovative efforts in this important area.
