Introducing ThousandEyes WAN Insights: From Reactive to Preventative

ThousandEyes WAN Insights is a new capability within the ThousandEyes Platform and the first pivotal step toward delivering on the Cisco Predictive Networks vision, starting with customers’ SD-WAN environment. ThousandEyes WAN Insights proactively alerts IT teams to issues before they happen and harm user experience, offering policy recommendations and path optimization guidance. Alongside ThousandEyes’s unmatched view of Internet health and behavior, the addition of WAN Insights helps to empower enterprises to maximize their Internet and cloud-centric environments and deliver flawless digital experiences.

    How it Works

Initially, ThousandEyes WAN Insights is available for Cisco SD-WAN customers. ThousandEyes WAN Insights forecasts network conditions and then provides recommendations to optimize SD-WAN network performance. WAN Insights ingests telemetry directly from SD-WAN environments and then applies statistical models to forecast performance and to recommend alternate paths, at a circuit level, to improve user experience.

WAN Insights natively supports a set of default applications, including Microsoft 365 and Webex by Cisco. Additionally, network teams can easily bring their own critical or custom applications by defining them and then onboarding them on to WAN Insights. Once set up, WAN Insights proactively monitors end-to-end paths at a per-application level and provides application-specific path recommendations. Teams can proactively use these recommendations to identify new or developing issues and make necessary changes before application performance drops below desired levels.

IT teams can greatly benefit from the preventative approach of WAN Insights by lessening the need to react and instead proactively prevent bigger problems from developing across their networks. WAN Insights helps ITOps to:

    • Stop reacting and start working towards preventing SD-WAN network-related problems with critical business applications
    • Catalog important applications and implement a proactive monitoring and improvement approach
    • Get real-time recommendations to avoid issues and improve overall user experience
  5. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this third question: Outline the market performance, critical reception, and customer satisfaction with the product or service to date. State monetary or unit sales figures to date, if possible, and how they compare to expectations or past performance. Provide links to laudatory product or service reviews. Include some customer testimonials, if applicable (up to 350 words):

In today’s connected world—where every business, application, and device relies on a digital connection, every hour of every day—driving superior digital experiences is the outcome that matters most. Core to delivering those experiences are cloud and Internet networks, but relying on those external environments means that IT has become blind to issues that are beyond their control, yet impact the digital experience of customers and employees. This has created a reactive-based networking model, where user experience is always degraded. That’s the problem that ThousandEyes WAN Insights solves for—bringing as much predictability and as much certainty as possible into these unpredictable environments.

    A Milestone Toward Automated Networking

ThousandEyes WAN Insights enables enterprises to move from reactive to preventative—a significant milestone towards automated, self-optimizing networks and services. WAN Insights enables IT to improve operational efficiency and assurance of application experience by continuously analyzing performance data and applying modeling to forecast conditions and recommend actions, enabling IT teams to proactively avoid experience degradation—enabling organizations to confidently deliver the best possible user experience.

For ThousandEyes, a strategic priority has always been to bring  as much predictability and certainty into unpredictable Internet-centric environments. ThousandEyes Internet Insights™ harnesses an unmatched Internet intelligence data set to provide a real-time view of outages and the top SaaS applications and service provider networks as they are happening. This intelligence is one-of-a-kind and provides a way to operate in unpredictable Internet environments. Now, with ThousandEyes WAN Insights, ThousandEyes is extending that visibility into enterprise SD-WAN environments, enabling organizations to move from reactive to preventative, improving operational efficiency and application experience.

After a successful Private Preview following the announcement in June 2022, customers will now be able to leverage the power of ThousandEyes WAN Insights as a generally available product starting March 2023.
