To celebrate the invention of the world’s largest, most reliable machine ever built, the telecom network, we produced a mini-documentary about the risk-taking spirit of the pioneers who created the infrastructure. Our goal was to increase awareness of the socioeconomic impact the network has in bringing education and access to services, allowing microbusinesses in the third world to compete globally. The video has received 137,000+ YouTube views; been screened at SXSW and Mobile World Congress; featured on ShortsHD TV network as part of its “Summer of Docs” series; and it has advanced as a finalist in the 2013 Webby Awards.
