Pups & Pints began 19 years ago as Posh Pooch and has evolved into the popular event that it is today. It is a one-day festival that features a wide variety of dog-related activities, unique vendors, local animal rescues and entertainment for all spectators to enjoy. It is an annual tradition that brings many visitors to Celebration, Florida. One of the biggest highlights of the event is the dog costume contest where participants and spectators are heavily involved. This year’s winner featured two chihuahuas in a lobster pot with their owners dressed as chefs. More than 20 dogs competed, and our top four dogs won gift baskets.

Using strategic marketing strategies, advertising for Pups & Pints was able to reach people in Osceola County and beyond. Pups & Pints received a grant from Experience Kissimmee, which allowed Pups & Pints to reach people through a variety of mediums. The Celebration News Magazine has a circulation of 15,000 and had a quarter page dedicated to the event in November and December. January’s edition contained a full page of information so that visitors could plan their day. There were two different advertisements that ran on Facebook as well. The first one reached 74,392 people and the event responses reached 1,181, which included people noting whether people would be interested in attending the event. The second one reached 114,500 people and reached people who lived 50+ miles away from Celebration, Florida. The Orlando Sentinel ran a full circulation advertisement on January 14th that was in full circulation in several counties, including Osceola, Orange, Seminole, Lake, and Volusia. The event was also advertised on MIX 105.1 and 101.9 radio stations.

Pups & Pints was brought to spectators by Experience Kissimmee and was sponsored by Island Village at Celebration by Mattamy Homes and Celebration Brewing Company, who donated beer to the event. There were 28 local vendors showcasing businesses, most of which were canine themed. Beautiful weather conditions along with a strong promotional campaign resulted in close to 4,000 attendees at Pups & Pints. This event is free for all visitors, which brings in a lot of business for local businesses in the downtown area and local vendors.

Experience Kissimmee took surveys at the event and received comments from people who attended. Pups & Pints received excellent feedback such as “amazing day meeting people, meeting pets and vendors. We had an absolutely wonderful time”, and “Love this event!! We look forward to it every year and love seeing it grow!”. This event has gone through several changes (the biggest one being the name change!) in the 19 years since its inaugural event in 2005. However, the heart of Pups & Pints remains the same year after year. It is a day of traditions that brings dogs and dog lovers together and will continue for many years to come.
