As the Vice-President of Human Resources for the nation’s largest online job
site, CareerBuilder.com, Rosemary Haefner has a big job. She is not only
responsible for recruitment, retention, learning and development, employee
relations and community relations strategies for the company’s fast-growing
workforce, she also lends her years of human resources experience to help shape
products the company offers its customers, which includes employers, staffing
    agencies and job seekers.

    Managing Aggressive Growth
Since joining the company nearly five years ago, Haefner has played a prominent
role in elevating CareerBuilder.com to its current #1 position in the U.S.
marketplace with the most traffic and revenue. During her tenure, the company
more than doubled its revenue from $283 million in 2004 to $775 million in 2007
and experienced explosive growth in its workforce. The company has grown from
approximately 500 employees located within 15 U.S. offices in 2004 to nearly
2,500 today, located within 33 offices in eight countries. In the last year
alone, the employee population grew 30 percent.

Haefner is also playing an integral role in CareerBuilder’s international
expansion which has required quick, simultaneous ramp up in multiple countries.
In the last year, CareerBuilder has launched sites in Canada, the UK, Germany
and India; acquired online job sites in the Netherlands, Sweden and Greece; and
expects to have a presence in several additional European markets by the end of
    2008.

CareerBuilder.com’s CEO Matt Ferguson put it best when he explained why Haefner
was the right person for the job: “Rosemary is adept in managing the human
capital of high-growth companies. Her record has shown she can successfully
scale up function and culture to support aggressive performance and revenue
    goals.”

    Becoming a Sought After Employer
Heading up the Human Resource efforts for a company that is literally moving at
Internet speed is no easy task, but Haefner readily welcomes the challenge with
her signature candor and wit. Her strategic vision and business acumen helped
to create a progressive, inviting work culture that has garnered accolades
across the country. In addition to be included on several regional “best
places to work” lists, CareerBuilder landed a national spot on Business Week’s
2007 “Best Places to Launch a Career” list.

Operating in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, employees are provided with
competitive salaries and bonuses and excellent benefits. They are also
provided with unique opportunities such as the company’s annual “Ideas from
Everywhere” competition, through which all employees can pitch ideas for a new
business venture and the ultimate winner gets to run the new business line.
Other highlights are team-building activities such as an “Amazing Race”-type of
adventure, company softball games at Wrigley Field as well as opportunities to
give back to the global community through Millennium Promise and Habitat for
    Humanity.
