Ansys, the world leader in the development of physics-based engineering simulation software, annually presents Simulation World (SimWorld), the world’s largest virtual event for R&D leaders, engineering simulation thought leaders, and simulation software users across industries. SimWorld originated as a virtual Ansys convention in June 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic prevented people from gathering in person and continued in April 2021 when the first event proved to be so successful. SimWorld 2022 will start on May 18.
Engineering simulation is a rapidly growing field in which engineers in all industry sectors are using physics-based software to simulate how a new product design will work on a computer, eliminating the endless rounds of building and testing expensive physical prototypes. Simulation is helping companies to Engineer What’s Next and to get that next product to the market more quickly and cost-effectively than ever before. Companies can be confident that their product will work as expected the first time and every time because it has already been validated virtually.
The goal of SimWorld is to bring together the top minds in the simulation field to present their latest groundbreaking work and discuss their ideas about the future of simulation. In 2021, following the Simulation World Opening Keynote by Ajei Gopal, CEO of Ansys, some of the top speakers included:
- Matt Cadieux, Red Bull Racing Honda, on “Pushing the Boundaries of Simulation” in Formula 1 racing
- Larry James, Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). on “How Simulation Enables JPL to Expand the Frontier of Space Exploration”
- Carol Erikson, Northrop Grumman Corporation, on “5 ‘Mega Trends’ That Will Have the Biggest Impact on the Simulation Industry”
- Caglayan Arkan, Microsoft, on “The Art of Possible: Engineering New Business Value in Today’s Disruptive Times”
- Ferdinando Cannizzo, Ferrari, on “Ferrari: Innovating and Winning with Ansys Simulation Technologies”
- Bill Mannel, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Mark Papermaster, AMD, on “The Supercomputer Comes to Everyone: Leveraging Exascale Era Technology in Today’s Computing Environment.”
These are just a few of the speakers in the Executive track. Altogether, more than 200 sessions were held in the various tracks at SimWorld 2021, including the Executive, Leadership, and Academic tracks, along with application-focused tracks covering Autonomy and Automotive, Cloud Computing, Digital Mission Engineering, Digital Transformation, Electrification, and 5G Connectivity.
SimWorld 2021 attracted 38,301 total registrants who accounted for 38,286 total session views in both the live sessions and the on-demand sessions available after the event was over. The average rating for all presentations was 4.6 stars out of 5.
We also had a virtual exhibit hall at SimWorld 2021 for companies who wished to exhibit their latest simulation-related offerings.Using the interactive SimWorld software, attendees could arrange meetings in advance to talk to the exhibitors and learn about their latest offerings. We recorded a total of 6,712 unique attendee views of these exhibit booths, with total booth entries of 36,389.
SimWorld 2021 was a great success for Ansys, our speakers, exhibitors, and attendees. We achieved our goals of uniting the engineering simulation community in difficult times and sharing knowledge to the benefit of executives and engineers all over the world.
