Amplify consistently demonstrates its commitment to the evolving needs of educators and students, and mCLASS Lectura is a prime example. mCLASS Lectura is Amplify's Spanish literacy universal screening, dyslexia screening, and progress monitoring assessment for grades K–6. This assessment was designed to consider how Spanish literacy skills are acquired and developed to provide educators with valid and reliable measures of Spanish reading development to inform instructional decisions. mCLASS Lectura enables educators to connect with Spanish-speaking students face-to-face, one-on-one, and in the language most comfortable to them.
mCLASS Lectura includes a dual language report, the first of its kind in the Spanish assessment market. The report provides a side-by-side view of the student's biliteracy in English and Spanish, streamlines the work of identifying what students know in each language, and provides instructors with strategies on how to infuse language skills in a systematic way.
Many educational institutions today need help with adequately assessing bilingual students. Assessing multi-language learners only in English can lead to overidentifying them as having learning difficulties. Students who use languages other than English in their homes often face a school environment that views their bilingualism as a disadvantage, labeling them as "limited English proficient" rather than recognizing them as "multilingual English learners."
Based on the science behind how students learn to read in English and Spanish, the mCLASS Lectura system enables teachers to understand the effects of language on student performance, pinpoint where their Spanish-speaking or emergent bilingual students really are in their literacy skill development, and decide what instruction to prioritize.
