The ABA formally released its video on August 6, 2011, during its Annual Meeting, which included more than 5,000 attorneys. It has since been distributed even more widely, including being available online, reaching many thousands more.

Briefly describe this entry’s communications objectives and how it met those objectives (up to 100 words).

Recent natural disasters serve as grim reminders that tragedy can strike anyone, anywhere, anytime. Alarmingly, almost half of America’s law firms have no business continuity plan, and when disaster occurs, their clients will be left without important documents– critically impairing access to justice for millions. The ABA launched an awareness campaign on the need for disaster planning, which has reached thousands of legal professionals nationwide.

This video, the initiative’s centerpiece, features sadder-but-wiser lawyers who thought “it” could never happen to them, creating a persuasive case for preparedness. The video also introduces free resources to help lawyers get started.
